Rajon Rondo announced today that he is declaring for the NBA draft. Who other than Ronnie Brewer and Rondo have declared that we will have faced next year(SEC or nonconference)?

That is crazy. Rhondo will be another Marcus Taylor. Thing is he is not as good as Taylor was when he declared for the draft. I know millions are being thrown at these guys, but dang. I just got back from Indy this morning. Anxious to see if Noah decides to leave as well. The very reliable inside source I have is he won't leave, but his stock has just gone through the roof. It just seems nothing is concrete these days.

Yeah, 3 of the players that everyone said were for sure going to leave might not leave at all. Big Baby has said he is staying at LSU. Tyrus Thomas has said he isn't sure yet but he does think that LSU will win the NCAA next year. And Joakim Noah has all but said he is staying.

If Pearl finds a reliable PG and Florida's players come back, UK could be in a world of hurt next year.

Rondo is a mistake and will never make it and Brewer isn't ready

That means they'll get contracts and make money but does not mean they will last in the league for very long.

The overwhelming majority of first round picks last at least five years in the league.

How long are the initial contracts for first-rounders? Don't they follow some kind of designated structure?

I know they used to be three years, with a right of first refusal after the third year. I think they're now four years, with restricted free agency after the fourth year.

Defense and the NBA loves guards that rebound.
Wow, hatvol, you are really surprising me on this one. I think you are wrong. After the year he had I don't see any way possible that he is a first round pick. I guess time will tell.

If he has good workouts, he'll be in the top 15 picks.

Rondo hired an agent. Tubby has extremely good NBA contacts, through his work with USA Basketball. If Rondo weren't assured of a spot in the first round, he wouldn't have hired an agent. I'm sure Tubby did the necessary due diligence for Rondo to be comfortable closing the door on college.

I'll buy that but only because you're pretty spot on w/ bball. I just don't get it though. I have been watching the Suns for a few years and I don't see him as an NBA-type player. Yes he got some rebounds but most were because he clanked his own shots.

He fits a role in the NBA. He'll be an elite defender and rebound better than most at his position. Nobody's going to draft him expecting him to score more than 10-12 points a night.

The length of that first guaranteed contract probably has a lot to do with first-round picks usually staying around for at least five years, like you said.

Everyone I have talked to says Rondo needs atleast a year of solid Practice to stick in the NBA and he was a better prospect after his Freshman year than he is now

I think that assumes he had Tubby's approval which we don't know if he did or not. This could be all Rondo for all we know and he could be going against the advice of Tubby.

Tubby wouldn't have shown up at the press conference talking about how Rondo is the best athlete he's ever coached if he was really opposed to his jump.
