Let's discuss what the 2016 depth chart could look like. Here's my post-season, pre-spring prediction without taking into consideration any other transfers or not-yet committed recruits. After putting this together, I came back to say I see a desperate need for defensive backs - especially safety. Also, while we do have enough for a team, I would like to see more receivers. I think this is mostly accurate, but I do think JJ backs up Berry at safety or maybe even starts. I think Jeff George will back up Malone at WR2, that Perry backs up Smith at the slot and that Croom is the backup TE behind Wolf, it's possible that he evens plays on the outside behind Malone.

lol George won't be a slot receiver. Like kid50 said, Perry will probably back up Josh Smith. I'd put George in the same group as North & Williams.

For Tight End I'm expecting Stocstill to have a big year. Croom will be a situational WR/TE if he's healthy. Don't expect a true freshman to back up Wolf with guys like Stocstill, Johnson and Croom showing him how it's done.

At DT Danny O'Brien will start ahead of K. Mac assuming O'Brien gets out of Butch's doghouse. K Mac simply isn't a 3 down DT yet until he sheds a fair amount of weight expect him to be 2nd on the depth chart at DT.

At safety Warrior is the backup to EB (assuming we get him).

Kick return I think Perry fits in well there. Possibly Corey Henderson as well. We will see when spring camp rolls around.

Developmentally I think Darrell Miller is ahead of Micah at CB, but that's just from my limited observation. Look for D. Henderson to push for playing time. Physically he's just as ready as D. Miller/M. Abernathy.

BTW Bituli will probably be a DE and I'm expecting Hart to be a fit at MLB as well.

Oh and Blair definitely wont be backup LT. I'd give that to Hall before I gave it to Blair. Wiesman will probably be our starting right guard not tackle. Kendrick will probably be our starting right tackle with Hall directly behind him. I expect Hall to be moved around a lot as they are very versatile.

Other than that it looks pretty good.

Waste of time. At least wait until NSD. Lotta big moves left.

If we would wait until everything happened before we talked about it then there would be no purpose for the forum. It's kinda the reason everyone is here. To speculate and form an opinion.

BTW Mixon is a baller I'm expecting him to be a solid contributor next year. Definitely ahead of Butcher.

Does anyone know the status of Quarte Sapp was he moved to safety?

Last I heard around mid-season was that he was. He may move back to LB if JJ is, in fact, moved to safety. Also, I think it's been reported that Gaulden may move to safety too so that may affect things as well.

Move Jennings to Safety. Jakob Johnson to FB.

As illustrated in that Wordpress article, TE is an effective FB in this offense. Bet Butch liked what he saw and if Jakob's hands are any good, he'd look real good in that Alex Ellis role. DeBord will most likely increase the under center looks exponentially this season for that extra power running.

I'd move Austin Pope and Andrew Butcher further down the depth chart. Vickers is probably top 4 in the DT rotation unless KMac takes his game to the next level and Alexis Johnson is unbelievable straight out of the gate.

Elliot Berry is a WLB. Bates could play SLB, but he's only lined up as a MLB or WLB so far. Bynum or Jumper probably take over for Smith at SLB if he goes down.

Others have pointed out that Perry will be in the conversation at Slot WR and George being an outside receiver. There's been a lot of smoke about Jennings moving to Safety. If we don't get Warrior, I'd imagine that's a sure thing.

With the secondary I think we could see a lot of shuffling around depending on if Cam comes back, we land Warrior, or if Jennings moves to Safety. Foreman looked better than Moseley this year and has played outside and inside. Abernathy played inside and outside at times this year. We're not sure where they'll line up Henderson. There's been some smoke from Doug Matthews about Gaulden moving to safety. Shoop's specialty is the secondary, so if we land him I could see some definite shuffling around there. IMO it's the biggest question mark on the team next year, followed by #2 TE.

I think this is mostly accurate, but I do think JJ backs up Berry at safety or maybe even starts. I think Jeff George will back up Malone at WR2, that Perry backs up Smith at the slot and that Croom is the backup TE behind Wolf, it's possible that he evens plays on the outside behind Malone.

spot on

I hope so.

It helps Hurd and our o-line.
