Shoop was supposed to make a huge impact. While the defense is definitely better than the offense they let a pitiful SC offense move the ball with relative ease.

I understand key personnel being out but if the team/defense is that fragile there is something else going on.

With so much at stake it is baffling to see such an uninspired performance on both sides of the ball.

What will it take to get truly competitive in the SEC again? Bobby Petrino?

The Shoop million dollar " experim ent" has been a complete failure. Our defense is worse than last year

325 total yards allowed. 167 passing 158 rushing. 24 points allowed and 7 were from defending a short field from an interception. And yes they still have a large number of injuries to deal with.

Offense on the other hand had 297 yards total offense and 3 turnovers vs none by USCjr

Defense is most definately not the problem. They played good enough to win.

Edit: Forgot TOP! 24 vs 36 minutes. It's not the defense.

Our defensive injuries earn Shoop a pass IMO. He's doing as well as can be expected in his situation. Now, Debord on the other hand...

Petrino is the answer IMO, bad person, good coach, will soon be the formula for winning in all of college football

Shoop is the same guy that had a healthy team early and still couldn't stop a soul. If u need further evidence of how great he is take a look at penn state. Their defense was really bad against Ohio state........... wait a minute. Haha. Overrated and overpaid

Looks bad at times, that being said, gave them a chance to win...Offense is the biggest problem

Beginning to believe this. Baby- face freshman QB schooled Vol defense.

Shoop is slightly better than average. Problem is we are paying him over a million dollars to be better than that.

Injuries or no injuries, giving up that much yardage and plays to the worst offense in the league one of the worst in the nation is truly unacceptable. Had a bad feeling after the Appy St game when we got pushed around and got lucky.

Save for a few individuals on D, the lack of SEC quality players is obvious....... and won't ever get better under Butch Jones, he's a red face loser, no more no less
