And so it begins...

If you add A&M to the west, who do you add to the east? My first choice would be FSU.

FSU has already burned that bridge. I say add TAMU and OU to the West (Mizzou if OU won't come) and ship Arkansas to the East.

TxVol are their any rumblings down your way about Mike Sherman to the Titans? I saw him mentioned in one article. He apparently was at GB the same time as the Titans GM.

Only message board experts and clowns looking for a reaction. Sherman is not going anywhere for a long time.

One of the Alabama schools would make more geographical sense but they wouldn't split those two up.

Arky in the east makes no sense though.

I've argued all along that AU has more history with teams in the East, and they're the easternmost West school (more east than Vandy). But the SEC likes to divide by state, and Arkansas is the easternmost school without an in-state rival.

I think the natural rivalry for us would be Arky and LSU, both of which have beaten us recently. I'm not sure any restructuring would have to take place, but I don't get paid to make those calls. We'll see, I'm just ready to SECede.

True, but Arky has a better rivalry with LSU, A&M and even Ole Miss than anyone from the East. I would imagine Arky would very much fight a move to the East.

Plus it would be tough for their fans to travel to Florida, UT, UGA etc.

If A&M goes SEC...we should lobby for an addition to the East...not a re-alignment...

Perhaps the new regime at FSU would be receptive...it would bring even more to the FSU v FLA rivalry...or even Ga Tech (UGA v GATECH rivalry)...or Louisville (though they would always have a better shot getting to a BCS bowl in the Big East)...North Carolina (???)...Clemson (with S CAR rivalry)...or perhaps VA Tech...

I heard a joke that when the Big Ten named their divisions to Legends and Leaders the SEC should change their divisions to assault and battery.

I believe it takes 9 yes votes to add a team (ie 4 no votes would veto.) It has been speculated that UF, UGA, USC and UK have a cartel to vote no to adding FSU, Miami, GT, Clem, and U of L.

Wow...you would think a vote yes and bringing in more to a rivalry game would be extra $$$ in the bank...plus then one of your OOC games is now an In Conf, so you could schedule another OOC cupcake if you're Florida...:)

It's about maintaining the upper-hand in the in-state power struggle. UF, UK, UGA, and USC have a built-in advantage over the in-state schools than aren't in the SEC. Allow them into the league and that advantage disappears.

Probably would have to realign north/south (or legend/leader style. :) )

yeah no one would make fun of the SEC divided into divisions called the North and South. Although it might be funny if they put Ole Miss in the North

They've torched the rest of their traditions, so why not?
