An Open Letter to Coach Kiffin.

I apologize if I was terse.

It's just that there's all this major slurping going on at UT over Kiffin and the man hasn't yet taken the field as head coach of the Vols, much less won a game. I mean, if talking were the test, Spurrier would have been made POTUS and they'd have "accidentally" burned the 22nd Amendment in the 8th year.

Point is, all this heart felt schmaltzy stuff doesn't result in anything.

Personally I prefer you terse. But that's just me.

I'll agree 100% that nothing Kiffin and Co. have done thus far has put 1 in the win column yet, but it has rallied and invigorated the fan base which was sorely needed and is essentially what this board is here for and all about...fan interest and excitement, so get over it, after all it's a VOL message board for goodness sake. I can't sit here and guarantee that Kiffin and Co. take us back to the top of the CFB world but I like our odds an awful lot.

when are you people going to realize that history is all you have to fall back on,

YO Gamecrock, at least we have a history as a football program. The Gamecrocks have nothing about which to boast. Even the famous Dr. Lou or the formerly great Visor Coach couldn't make your program into anything minimally respectable.

We will return to our greatness... We have won National Championships. We have won Conference Championships. We have won Eastern Div. Titles. We will win those honors again.

Maybe some day your "team" (for lack of a better term) might get a smell of greatness.

There was a lot of enthusiasm, sure. But nothing like open letters bordering on bromance.

More like: (adressing saban and meyer)- don't stoop down to kiffin level. Big Monte needs to teach his son a few lessons about respecting his elders. Even being a SC fan, I have great respect for Monte and his accomplishments as a D coordinator, but I have absolutely no respect for Laney Boy, if he is trash talking like this before ever winning a game, I might want to buy some earplugs if he ever turns out to be any good. (No smack intented, I swear if you guys were fans of UT's opponents, you would probably be doing the same thing, Kiffin keeps us entertained in the offseason with his stupidity and futile attempts at intimidating teams in the sec.
While your at it, Buy some gloves so you can't type and a gag so that you won't contaminate the rest of the world with your gibberish...Now give me $30.00 premium please.

when are you people going to realize that history is all you have to fall back on, b/c frankly that UT team last year was by far the worst team SC played all year (worse than wofford and UAB) and, based on your logic, they are just going to go poof and revert back to the peyton manning/tee martin days. ya right. This isn't 1998 people. This is 2009 and jonathan Crompton is your Quarterback. Ut is no longer feared like they were 10 years ago. Get real, unless Pat Summit and Peyton manning have a benjamin button child that plays qb for UT this year, I wouldn't count on crompton as your savior that will bring back the glory days to vol football.

Does SCjr. even have that? What is your all time winning percentage again?:the_finger:

Lmao... UT coaching staff isn't that good.

Good recruiters - yes
Good game day coaches - None besides old Monte has proven anything anywhere they have been.

FAIL

This is the dumbest thing I've read all week.

Lane Kiffin isn't a good gameday coach? When he was OC at USC how many records did they break?

How many players has Coach O sent to the league?

How many RB's has Coach Gran send to the NFL?

Look at Coach Chaney's track record and tell me he isn't a good gameday coach.

You FAIL.

Uh, didn't O coach DL at Miami in the early 00's? What about Eddie Gran and the, what, 4 RBs he sent to the league? Chaney taught two NFL QBs at Purdue. The same place where you can win 8 games and become a legend.

Lance Thompson did a good job with LBs, if I recall.

It's funny how Lane Kiffin has ruffled so many feathers in a few months, than Fulmer could do in years

I love it, every team in the SEC puts on their angry gameface to hide their scared face
