I know most of Volnation are tired of hearing patience. We live in such a microwaved society. We want to win and we want it now. Heck Auburn did it with Chiznick and Freeze is doing it with Ole Miss. What most fail to realize other than drinking too much before posting is this program after Dooley left was in such shambles. In 2012 Dooley signed ZERO offensive linemen. Only a handful from the 2012 class is still even on the team. The ones that are on the team maybe 5-6 are in the rotation.

The fact that CBJ and staff can take what he has inherited and with a top 5 recruiting class has brought us to the verge of winning several games that I didn't even think we had a chance to win gives me hope. How many of the games we have lost has anyone actually predicted a win? Florida is the only game that I had us winning. But for the staff to coach the team up and keep it close shows progression.

Would most fans be better off if the games we lost weren't so close? I know it's frustrating to lose, but please, please, please be patient. Let's criticize and critique this staff after they have all their recruits. Then we would have the right to complain.

At the first of the season I predicted 6-6. I still stand by that. This season has gone almost exactly as predicted. I still say we get to a bowl game.

Hope this sheds some light on the bridge jumpers and Head Hunters tonight

GO VOLS!

Great post, but you're posting in the dumpster fire forum. Very few people here have the same view as you.

Good post. It will not change anyone's perception on this teams performance though.
My only concern is the staff had to know the o-line was going suck. If they didn't, then I am worried.

I agree VolinConcord. What changes would we make to be better at OLine that what we have?

Maybe getting some JUCO's to help out now. But that would mean giving up a Scholly to our future. The Brick by Brick process is what it is... I can guarantee within 2 years we WILL be back and in the top ten.

I thought about this too. It's almost like the coaching staff has been caught off guard by it, but they had to know the o-line was in trouble. OC looks lost, which indicates to me that he had no idea that o-line would be this bad and he certainly has made no adjustments.

There is the dilemma. I don't think there is anything the coaches can do. I am confident the players have been coached as much as possible. At the end of the day players have to play. Or, in the case of our O-line, not play.

Me being an optimistic at least these freshman are getting game experience that will help out in the futre. But, surely CMB saw the mismatches and the domination of the defense in our scrimages...

@ OP:

I do agree with you. Although I have serious questions about the OL's consistency (the professional manager and nco in me wants to flair up), I agree that we should wait until mid-way next season before questioning whether or not certain people need to go. These kids need the stability, and I am still excited about them "keeping it close" as frustrating as it is knowing we could have won.

Vandy and Kentucky are W's for me. I still believe we will beat either Mizzou or USCjr

I think all four are there for the taking. Mizzou, SC, Vandy, and UK are on the Vols' level of competition. We as fans have to understand the level of talent our guys have been facing. Even Florida's defense was/is a talented group. The Vols need to avoid any injuries next week and get ready for November.

At some point, the OL has to just get tired of getting their asses kicked and man up...they need to say enough is enough and start getting meaner...I mean, are you as the OL just going to take getting your ass whooped or are you going to look deep inside yourself and analyze what you're doing wrong and correct it.

Sounds great, but that will only get you so far and at some point if you don't have the talent and athletic ability it will show. For example: I really want to dunk a basketball but it will never happen no matter how bad I want it.

I agree there needs to be a fire set by the OLine themselves and 'Man up. But, I see the OLine being over powered and oversized. We can't correct the size...

Nor can we fix the experience level. This time last year those freshmen linemen were by far and away the best lineman on their respective high school fields in most cases. They ran rough shod over almost anyone. This year they are mere pups and they are the ones being run over because they are experiencing a new level of play, a new level of opponent across the line from them, and a new style of play, and speed they never saw in high school. It is probably shocking to them in some ways because they like most people figured they could handle the step up without any difficulty. But they will learn.

From a fan that remembers seeing Coach Majors call punts on 3rd down, excellent post ! The dumpster fire is still ablaze but the flame is getting weaker. When the 2015 class buds out as I dream it will, our Vols will be fine. As the old kung foo guy said, "Patience Grasshopper, patience". Id never doubt anyone on heres passion or dedication for Tennessee Athletics, but sometimes I would question the knowledge of said sport of discussion, in this case football. As for anyone wanting coaching changes, its not gonna happen.IMO Game plan or play calling could be changed but the outcome,at least on offence, wouldnt be much different considering the o-line youth and depth issues. Defensively playing balls out and will only get better! Special teams play is alway an area for improvement. I realize its difficult to remain optimistic sometimes but to all sane or at least partially sane fans, keep the faith and step away from the ledge. You crazy delusional ones can go ahead and jump ! :gone:

People must also remember that most of these boys were playing high school football this time last year and have not had 3 or 4 years in the college strength and conditioning program. We have started 6 true freshmen on the offense and the rest of the SEC had started 7 combined (before last nights game). Somewhere around 57% of Team 118 is either True Freshmen or Red Shirt Freshmen. Hopefully EVERYONE knew that this was not going to be a one or two year turnaround. If you can't see that, take a look at the last 4 recruiting classes, arrange them into what position they play, takes a marker and mark out everyone that is not here any longer and you will see what shape the program really is in. I still think 5-7 this year with best 6-6.
