An idea of what's on our roster

I see that. Big group of players. Sad some just don't give a crap. I'm just living in a utopia like dream world.

I definitely agree. Hopefully a hard-nosed players coach can get that mindset and culture changed. If not those players wont be here very long.

True, but who wants players that quit on .....anything.

Well I'll put it another way, butch lost that locker room. They no longer bought the bs he was selling and had no confidence in him.

You saying you would follow behind or fight for someone who you didn't trust or had no faith in? Would you commit 100% to them? If your answer is yes, you're either lying or a fool.

I don't blame them quitting on butch, not one bit.

I remember this scene from Remember The Titans where the kid says: Attitude reflects leadership captain! 2017 Vols.

2017 College Football Team Talent Composite

This hasn't been updated for this yr yet but we didn't lose much star talent and added more. Our composite would remain the same by time you add the Transfers in too. So this backs up my talent on our roster claim..Just needed the coaching to develop it. Only Ala,Ga,LSU and Auburn are ahead of us in the SEC and only 3 on our schedule this yr.

You are right.... We never had any

They are still on campus!.. the recruiting service's that we follow and put so much stock in on here says otherwise. But truthfully we Won't know either way until this fall.Hoping the recruiting service's are right. C.Fla and Troy don't have any but both beat SEC West teams, which we haven't done in 6 yrs.

If I lost faith/trust in my coach, which I did, I would still give 100% for myself.

I just look at the NFL draft.. Our best player was drafted in the third round other players in the conference was drafted in the first and second row that’s all you need to know

I agree that the lack of leadership was a big issue as well last year. Having a coach you don't trust is one thing, and with leadership on the field a team can rally and find a way. But if there is no trust in the coaches and no leadership, who do you expect to rally the troops? Would you send out an army without a general or any officers and expect them to rally or retreat when the going gets tough? We lost so much during and after 2016. We lost Dobbs,Hurd, Kamara, Malone, Smith,Sutton, Barnett, Berry and Jennings were injured, as well has some others due to injury. So basically every leader on offense and defense was gone by the beginning of the season. How can anyone expect a team with a lame duck coach who everyone was calling to get fired in the first game of the season and no experience or leadership or star players to rally in any way, shape, or form?
What experience we did have was Kelly, Daniel, medley and that's not enough to win games.

Please tell me you aren't basing talent level per team by one draft and picks in the first 2 rounds. 3 of the top 9 teams in the final rankings didn't have a player drafted in the 1st or 2nd round. CFP team Clemson didn't have a player drafted till the 3rd Rd and CFP Oklahoma had 1 drafted in the 1st 2 rounds and he was a walk on. With that theory UCLA who was 6-7, had 2 players drafted in the 1st Rd has more talent than Clemson and Okla. Would also mean Va Tech ( 2 1st Rounders),4-7 Fla (2 drafted in 1st 2 rounds), Louisville and Iowa each also had 2 drafted in the 1st 2 rounds would also have more talent than 2 of the 4 CFP teams. I won't even mention the mid major, Div 2 or teams with losing records, who had players drafted in the 1st 2 rounds than Clemson and a few other top 9 teams.

Huge hole in that theory, that I'm ashamed came out of a Vol Fan's head. Gonna give you the benefit of the doubt and hope that you were drunk, high, rollin or sleep typing when you posted that. Lastly Top 9 team TCU didn't have a guy drafted till round 3. #7 Wisconsin, who had 1 loss, was runner up in the Big 10 which was considered the best conference last year and also winner of a New Years 6 bowl didn't have a player drafted till the 4th..🤔🤔🤔.. Something about that all I need to know post was extremely inaccurate. And that is all YOU need to know!😉😉

I wouldn't have ever thought that. Great point! Again this is for the argument again us having no talent on our roster. Shows that talent doesn't equal wins if the coaching is bad. It's all I'm saying. With good coaching we could be much improved and have more talent than 9 of our 12 opponent's. Butch couldn't capitalize on that but hopefully this staff can and should.

ok, so your revelation is about as poignant as mine...like, tell me something I don't know...and it's still wins and losses that count...just ask any coach that has a losing season...:)

GO BIG ORANGE!

And you have to factor in that the team quit on butch. They didn't want to play for him anymore.

And for anyone that's going to ask, I don't have any links or quotes. So, JMO, IYAM.

Beat me to it, good point. I think the team was better than the record because they quit on Butch. I think as early as game 5-6.

When you let teams like Missouri score 50, and Vandy 42 you should be 4 and 8 probably worse. This season will be determined by the defense we put on the field. I think we'll be able to put at least 20 plus points on the board against everyone we play if the offensive line is any good they are the key. How many the defense gives up will be the determining factor.
I really see Chryst and his experience beating out JG for the starting job at QB. Will this offensive line be able to protect him to get the ball to a very solid group of WR's and a TE that could be an All American. Will we be able to run the ball.
If the defense isn't any good this season it will be because the players were overrated because Pruitt certainly has been successful defensively everywhere he has been.
