Huge ganster film fan and huge Denzel fan. I'm going to see the movie tonight.

Is anyone else as excited as me?

No. A guy who ruined the lives of several thousand, killed ANYONE who got in his way, and then turned snitch. Glorifying the life of someone who should have got whacked by their own. And now he's on TV saying he has no regrets.

At least La Cosa Nostra had class, not killing civilians, only their own.

Denzel almost stopped production of American Gangster because he was worried the character would be glorified.

The movie did not glorify Frank Lucas at all.

No it didn't. Excellent movie with great performances, but for all its show it just doesn't have that same epic feel as other classic crime movies. Still very good, 4/5.

I would agree with that as well. It was good but not on the level of the classics.

It's worth seeing. Just saw something about the real Frank Lucas a couple of hours ago on the history channel. Seemed like a lot of stuff in the movie was very hollywood-ized. Not that this should suprise anyone, but I thought it was interesting.

Actually it was pretty damn nasty, lol... Then he just goes back in tha restraunt like nothin happened.. very good stuff

Crazy little side note about Cuba Gooding Jrs character, My GF and all here family is from up there and her grandma called us the other day and told us that she was actually really good friends with the real character..

everyone is entitled to their opinion. Goodfellas is certainly a great movie. I think The Departed belongs just under it. I've never seen casino though...
