This game’s not just for the conference but a berth in the Cotton Bowl:

If Memphis wins, they’ll play in the Cotton Bowl.

If Cincinnati wins and Hawaii beats Boise State, then the Bearcats will play in the Cotton Bowl.

Despite the fairly one-sided 34-24 Memphis win that was last week’s game against these two, this game has been almost entirely dictated by Cincinnati’s defense today.

Both QBs have struggled today in a very windy Liberty Bowl Stadium, with the Bearcats’ QB returning for the first time in weeks from injury and Memphis’ QB going 8 for 23 in the first half...the biggest play he really made that half was a touchdown-saving tackle at the Memphis 20 right before halftime, after his Hail Mary pass was intercepted at the CIN 5 yard line (and the team also went 2 for 10 on third down in the first half).

With 12 minutes left in the 3rd quarter, it’s 17-14 Memphis after their first TD since early in the first quarter.

Memphis' defense is doing a terrible job of containing Cincy's QB.

Wow. Memphis 52 yard FG into the swirling wind is good. 21-20 Cincinnati with 3:54 left in the 3rd.

4th and 1 at the Memphis 26: Cincy goes for it and gets the first down with 6:24 left in the game.

Still 23-21 Memphis.

FG is good. A 6 minute 27 drive makes it 24-23 Cincinnati with 4:23 left in the game.

24-23 Cincy, 4:23 left in the game.

Memphis in danger of losing their 3rd AAC Championship Game in a row.

First ever 12 win season, and more then likely a trip to the Cotton Bowl unless Boise gets picked.
