Ours messed up in COD: WAW last night. I assumed it was maybe Live getting ready for the maintenance today.

You contributions to this thread are unmeasurable

Thanks, I really put some thought into it, glad you got it. To be honest the only reason I miss my 360 is the fact that I gained about 10 friends and lost about 40 so that is a net of -30.

K, well my box is fixed and has been running for about an hour. Just waiting on live to come back up. Thanks to Doc for his guide, very easy to follow and I think that I am going to to these on the side here in my area since I dont see anyone on craigs list.

Glad to see you got it running. Now that you've done one, future ones will be even less time. Once you get a bit better at opening the damn box (still my least favorite and most frustrating part) and taping the screws underneath when putting the heatsinks back on, you'll find it's a pretty quick fix.

I did my brother's PAL machine when he was visiting last time. He wasn't getting the RROD but I said that's probably the root. Since MS wouldn't fix it for free, he brought it to me. I fixed it. Thing was, I had to box it up and send it back without being able to test it. All I could do was plug it in and see that it was green. A week later he finally got home and tested it; all was fine. Power conversion happens in the brick, so my power would work, but it wouldn't sync to a NTSC set.

If you ever get into modding, it's almost easier if you have a compatible SATA chipset in your PC (or order off newegg for $10 or so). New windows apps make it so much easier than it was just a year ago.

my hopes have to be that this will work.....

To clear your Xbox 360 cache you need to do the following:

"a. Locate the System section of the Xbox 360 Dashboard. b. Select Memory, select Hard Drive, and then press Y to view the device options screen.c. On the Xbox 360 Controller, press the X button, press the X button again, press the left bumper, press the right bumper, press the X button, and then press the X button again.d. You will be prompted to confirm system maintenance, select Yes by pressing A

I am looking to buy a new SATA PCI, but what brand would you recommend??

Go to newegg.com and search for "pci sata". Sort the results by most reviewed. Click on a couple of reviews from the top guys. You'll laugh. And you'll find what you need easily.
