I was bsing with my boss who is also a UT fan and we were talking about the up coming season and then he said I'm ready for basketball season I wanna see what they can do are you ready for basketball season? I said no.... Why? He asked and I told him I root for the basketball team but I'm just not that into it, coach pearl has done a outstanding job as well as coach summit. If UT had a under water basket weaving team I would root for them because I love UT but my main focus and passion is UT football!! Then he told me I'm not a real fan.... Quickly this discussion turned into an argument.

What do y'all think I'll hang up and listen.

Good times, bad times you know i've had my share, basketball team could be preseason #1 and I still wouldn't seem to care.

It's a week and a half to kickoff ffs, your boss sucks.

I am with you. I watch Bball if UT is playing, but beyond that I do not care about it at all. Football on the other hand is God's sport and is far more important in my mind.

Do not ever mention Womens sports in the same breath with REAL mens sports ever again! Its ok to be more in love with one sport than another , as long as you are not the type that pulls for Vols in football, Kentucky in basketball and LSU in baseball. if you are that type turn in your resignation as a Vol fan to this wonderful website.

I always love when people judge other peoples loyalty to a team...you are either a homer or a bandwagon fan...if you're not balls to the wall, you're not a fan to some.

Support is support in my book, it comes in different waves of course. If you say you're a fan, then you're a fan.

Don't lose your job. Arguements with the boss man rarely end up positive. I'm not judging you for not being into basketball. What we should be judging however(behind his back) is why your boss is talking about baskteball 2 weeks before It's Football Time In Tennessee!

I grew up watching UT Football and UNC basketball. Anything else besides basketball im pulling for UT. I live in Tennessee and go to every football game at Neyland that I can, and never have been to a UNC basketball game. If im not at Neyland then im watching the game on tv. I just never got into basketball at UT. Thats just how I grew up, and if someone says to my face that im not a fan then I will just laugh in their face.

Ha ha fortunately I'm pretty cool with my boss, I think he was just being a d*** by getting fired up and watch my reaction because he's a d*** lol. I don't know why he was thinking about basketball right before football starts.... Oh, I know. Because he's a d*** lol

The ONLY reason i watch womens basketball is the Lady Vols. And when they are on tv i watch the Lady Vols softball team. I watch the Vols in football and basketball. I am a UT fan and i support all.

I like basketball ok. I went to my first UT basketball games this past season. They were fun but they simply do not compare to football to me. Not as much action. Not as many fans. Not as much cheering. Too short for a long drive. Guess u just have to keep in mind that there are those who prefer basketball. As for me, we or loose, I'm excited for football season!

I think you feel the same way alot of fans do. You put UT football on a "peddlestool"...:)

I agree with you.

I'm a fan of everything Tennessee but UT is a football university and Football is what most of us follow.

Am I excited for basketball season? Yes I am, will I go to the games? Yep, but not all. I NEVER went to games before I became a student. I just don't feel the same need to go like I do with football games. I don't miss football games.

So according to your boss...I'm not a real fan?

My father was a UT alumni...I'm a UT student, I've attended football games since I was a kid shaking a pompom and didn't understand what the numbers on the field meant. I wear orange around my LSU family members and keep a game day schedule up on my wall.

But I'm not a real UT fan???

I think we need to have a talk with your boss.

If you legitimately don't care whether a team, apart from the football team, from UT wins or loses... then no. You are a fan of the football team of the University of Tennessee, but not a fan of the University of Tennessee. Seems pretty simple to me.

I'm not saying you have to attend the events of other sports, but if you don't at least feel something positive(however minor) upon finding out that Tennessee's girls softball team just beat Alabama's 22-0... then you aren't what I would consider the typical SEC sports fan.

If you were born or raised in the south it was a football you daddy put in your crib and it was a football your daddy first took you outside to play with and it was a football game your daddy was watching when he let you first sneak a sip of his beer when your mother wasn't watching ... and if it wasn't you're parents were damn yankees.

I like them both, but football is king in the SEC. Basketball, to me, is something to pass the time until spring practice.

:birgits_giggle: But seriously, Tennessee is a football school. If your boss is thinking about basketball a week before the start of football season I'm thinking maybe he's the one that is the bad Volunteer fan.
