Hope you’re right. Seems a good coach would squash that real fast. It's not always the coach. We have a few players that wants to showcase their talent of scoring and not playing as a team. It takes time to get a team to jell that's why some teams are unrecognizable when the tournament comes around.
Yes and with Latham also missing that is 2 experienced players in system not there putting so much more on all the newcomers. People need to let them practice which now they have a week to continue to work on.I kinda think Ruby is missed more than some will admit. I understand the need for discipline, but it just came at a really bad time for a young team. I also believe this team will be fine later in the year when it really counts.

#7I'm guessing that Ruby was a stronger team leader than most of us realize, even though I heard some of her teammates bragging on her at the beginning for being the team leader and saying how important she was. Maybe they weren't just being nice. Maybe losing Ruby has thrown chemistry way off. I mean, one player CAN make or break a locker-room sometimes.

Henny Penny,,,the sky is falling!A player takes a personal leave of absence and you guys run with it...Latham will be back and better than ever...
Glad I couldn't watch the game (thanks for nothing Youtube TV). I keep checking here to see signs the ladies are starting to get it together. Last night doesn't sound very encouraging.
That’s what struck me. Year one, we had a good press and the players for the most part pulled it off. This year? It’s like they’ve never seen or played it before. The defense ...especially the half assed full court press was just as depressing as the offense.....
In Kim's one season at Marshall, they had some terrible losses at the first of the year, to Northern Kentucky, Wright State and Morehead State. They looked totally out of sync and the fans were all ready for another ho-hum year for the Herd women. The next game after the Morehead loss, they beat the Florida Gators and started on a roll that would result in conference regular season and tournament championships.
My point -- step back from the ledge and watch what happens when things finally sink in.
Year one we had a decent press BY THE END OF THE SEASON— it took time. This season, more than half the players are brand new to the system. It’s going to take time. Coach is still teaching, still seeing what different players can handle, and figuring out rotations and combinations. With this system, we have to give them some grace and let them grow. That’s what struck me. Year one, we had a good press and the players for the most part pulled it off. This year? It’s like they’ve never seen or played it before.
Not sure what to make of it. I’m sure they will figure it out, but definitely not the way to start the season.
Last year, they started in the season by steam rolling a half dozen teams that barely had a pulse. This schedule is intentionally more difficult. You don’t have to be (and frankly shouldn’t be) happy or satisfied with the way things are going, but it’s disingenuous to compare the first six games of last season to the first six opponents this season.Last season we were all excited to see this new brand of basketball.
This year so far is a big letdown.
Not to be pedantic but besides NC State, the first six opponents aren’t THAT much different. We played UTM and MTSU, which both are in the first six games this year. We played Florida State with Latson who made the tourney and lost to LSU in round of 32(funnily enough NC State lost to the same LSU team in the next round.) We played Liberty who made the tourney and came within a point of beating UK, which I think would be equivalent to Belmont. Last year, ETSU split with Western Carolina and Samford, who we played in our first six games. Unless Coppin is a lot stronger than them, it’s almost a wash with maybe the edge of NC State being better than Florida State.Last year, they started in the season by steam rolling a half dozen teams that barely had a pulse. Right, that was our 6th opponent last year, so one of the first 6. We were very lucky to beat them at home last year. I could see the argument that we have had more away or neutral site games this year in our first six oppenents, but the quality isn’t vastly different. We didn't play FSU until 12/4 and we were as lucky as heck to beat that FSU team
This bunch is cool as the men who aren't on death row.Latest attire for some Lady Vol fans....
Stay calm guys, it will be fine.

Maybe changing her sub philosophy could get their attention. And as someone else said, the players seem to be trying to showcase their individual talent, rather than working as a team, to get the best shot.Last season we were all excited to see this new brand of basketball.

For the Belmont game, only Tay, Kaniya and Zee had the previous year's experience playing in Kim's system. Kaiya Wynn's entire season was ended before it began. We were already coming into the season with only 5 who'd played last year, and Ruby is obviously gone now and, at least for Belmont, so was Latham. And both of them were solid in the press.
All this just to remind everyone that we don't have much experience in Kim's system available right now. It's definitely going to take some time.
