I don't know how many of ya'll woke up early to watch the Saints/Dolphins game at London but Alvin Kamara looked really really good. He's so good that he's already forced Mark Ingram and Adrian Peterson down the depth chart. During the broadcast the announcers talked about how Sean Payton had a "man crush" on Alvin and how Sean Payton said that "the challenge would be trying to fit Mark Ingram and Adrian Peterson into the game-plan" because Alvin would be playing a lot.

Watching the game, its pretty clear Alvin is already their #1 play-maker. Sean Payton was trying every which way to get him the ball. They had Alvin split out at wide receiver and had him running receiver routes like hitches and were throwing him the ball as the primary read. They were giving him swing passes, screen passes, and even shovel passes (which ended up going for a TD). I believe Alvin led the team with 10 receptions for 71 yards and 1 TD. He also ran 5 times for 25 yards (5 YPC). Now these stats don't look mind-blowing but you have to consider that this was a low scoring defensive game that ended 20-0. As the season progresses and the Saints start playing more wide open games, look for Alvin to have some monster games statistically. I'm talking 100 yards rushing and 100 yards receiving in the same game.

WITH THAT SAID, the fact Butch Jones didn't feel the need to use a player like Alvin Kamara for 2 years is the worst piece of coaching malfeasance I have ever seen and honestly should be enough by itself to get him FIRED. Now I'm not gonna second guess this and say Alvin should have started ahead of Jalen Hurd. The Saints still technically have Mark Ingram listed as the starting RB and give him the most carries. HOWEVER, Alvin gets the most touches because of what he can do in the pass game. The fact Butch Jones couldn't get both Alvin and Jalen on the field TOGETHER and use Alvin more in the pass game is the biggest indictment of his coaching career here at Tennessee. Sean Payton is showing us right now how many ways you can give Alvin the ball so he can make an impact. The fact Butch Jones thought the best way to run his offense was to have a 6'4" 240 lbs I-formation RB run from the shotgun formation into the middle on the defense behind a bad offensive line is why he should be fired IMMEDIATELY. This guy simply doesn't know how to coach a football team. He doesn't know how to utilize his personnel correctly. He doesn't know what to do during the game when it comes to game management or play-calling. Please John Currie for the love of God end this 5 year nightmare and fire Butch Jones IMMEDIATELY.

And now that we see how good John Kelly is, imagine if we had an actual offensive minded Coach. Makes me sad to think that we could have had 2 years of Kamara, Dobbs, and Kelly in the same backfield. A good Coach could have averaged 70 points a game with that kind of threat!

Thanks D4H for the invaluable info concerning CBJ's coaching malfeasance. I've noticed a certain fellow named Kyle Davis has taken it upon himself to inform Mr. Currie of our current needs and wants.
I'd like to add that many posters on VN were concerned of your whereabouts and mentioned the word "blowout" which concerned me because I was afraid you may be considering harming yourself in some manner due to UT's embarrassing loss to UGA. Thanks for the post and glad to know all is well with you.
PS: Kyle Davis' twitter to AD Currie has a thread in this forum.

I have a feeling in 2-3 years when all those guys are in the NFL we're gonna look back at the 2015 and 2016 teams and wonder what could have been if we had a competent head coach. As you said the offensive firepower on that team from a talent standpoint is insane. We ended up averaging 36 PPG with our head coach not using his best players most of the time and with zero semblance of a competent game-plan. Its honestly not hyperbole to say a good head coach would have average 50-60 points with that talent.

I believe the 2015 and 2016 Vols will be be looked at as one of the greatest wastes of talent in college football history. Those teams had the talent to make the college football playoffs and yet never even managed to win their division on the weak side of the SEC. People will have a hard time contemplating how that was even possible.

Last year will always baffle me.

Don't worry.
He'll be gone soon.

And he's never coming back

The Botchfense is perfect. It's everyone else not executing.

Butch's tenure here has been inflated by a once in a generation legacy cycle and Josh Dobbs being a playmaker. I defended Butch for his Mon - Fri performance the first two years. But he's no coach.

I think he does find real quality 3 star guys, so he has some skill at talent evaluation. Also why he's better suited for mid-tier programs.

His performance with his legacy talent and the weakest East in a generation is shocking. It's actually Stooley -esque.

Someone doesn't understand the difference between the NFL and NCAA football...

So you're telling me Butch Jones couldn't have used Alvin Kamara the way Sean Payton is currently using him?

What is the difference between the NFL and College Football that doesn't allow you to split your RB out wide and use him the pass game? Or how about involving in the pass game out of the backfield with shovel passes, screen passes, and swing passes?

Are you seriously arguing that differences between college and the NFL justify the misuse of Alvin Kamara by Butch Jones?

I just don't understand how Dobbs, Kamara, Butuli... I'm sure I'm forgetting some...took injuries/defections to get on the field.

Makes me wonder who else on this roster has been wasted. Berry bros might be a good guess

This is fake. There's no way the real D4nationdomH would say Alvin is only the SECOND BEST player on any team.

Hacked!

Add Quart'e Sapp to the list of guys it took for injury to get on the field that has balled out ever since. Sapp is playing way better than McDowell ever did. Which makes me wonder why he wasn't the starter at the beginning of the year?

Don't forget Marquez Callaway. He was not listed as a starter until Jauan went down with injury.

Like you said, I wonder who else is out there being wasted on the bench by Butch Jones?

I drafted him in fantasy and everybody made fun of me (it's mostly Bama fans). Who’s laughing now?

Being the second best player of the Saints (don't even agree with that) and the next Marshall Faulk are pretty far away from each other. He fits that offense perfectly, just like Sproles 2.0.........not Faulk 2.0.

Kelvin Taylor is also the second best player on team Free Agent as well

I drafted our boy in the 19th round this year in FF and he got me 25 points yesterday. Before the season I knew it would only be a matter of time before he jumped ahead of AP on the depth chart. AP is washed up and AK is too talented to keep on the bench, in a heavy passing offense. AK was drafted to the perfect system.

Alvin Kamara will be a top 3 RB in the NFL in 2018.

1. Saquon Barkley - as a rookie he'll be the best
2. Alvin Kamara - he'll be a 1,000 yard rusher and 1,000 yard receiver next year
3. Ezekiel Elliott - if he's not suspended

That's gonna be the 3 best RBs in football in 2018.

If he gets the carries and his body holds, possibly, but this is far and away from your hyperbole prediction that he is marshall faulk reborn. Way too early for me to think about who will be the best RB in the league next year........you might possibly want to pump your breaks with a prediction like that while sitting at the first of October in 2017.

C'mon, this is the guy that predicted we were going to win the NC for the last two years...what possible reason could you have to doubt his prescience?
