I am trying to find where it came out that AJ denied that Kiffin said the gas comments. I remember reading it when it happened but I can't find a link to it anywhere on here or the net.

Does anyone know where to find it?

Thanks:hi:

monte and crew will scheme well to take away garcia's deep threats

Here's the thing I don't get - either Kiffin is a negative recruiter or he isn't. This comment is very inflammatory. You don't say this to one recruit and never say anything like this to any other recruit. I would guess that Kiffin has recruited at least a couple of thousand HS kids thus far in his career. Can't a good investigative reporter (I'm talking to you Chris Low) track down a bunch of these guys that did not commit to USC/Tennessee in the past and see if Kiffin made similar comments to them? Either there is a pattern or there isn't. That should tell you who to believe. It is not rocket science people.

Do you think that it might be possible, that some of those guys whom CLK recruited(or their coaches) might actually have an axe to grind (or be "liers or cryers"?...see: "I'll not be the coach at Alabama", or you know... the other guy) :eek:k: :)

Exactly... Kiffin has a mouth, but he's not stupid. IMO, Kiffin is to good at recruiting to do something this dumb. I think for some, it's the 'in thing' to bash Kiffin right now.

If something like this was said, I am sure it was said in a joking manner that conveyed clearly that CLK was joking around.

Although Alshon has never publicly denined the comments, he has never said publicly that they happened either.

It's obvious that Kiffin made those remarks. Alshon and his HS Coach who heard Kiffin say it have stated repeatedly to multiple sources that Kiffin did it. Why would his HS Coach lie repeatedly about that?

Where Kiffin blew it is not admitting it. After it came out that he said that, Kiffin should have been smart enough to just say that it was meant in a joking manner, that he respects USCe, etc., etc., and it would have gone away. It was pretty lame and dumb to lie about it.

I really don't know where this board would be without you here and people like Law Gator to clarify things for all of us. Thank you.

So, you can personally testify about the integrity of a S.C. high school coach, when he is talking about a possible rival coach? Maybe he really said " I'll never be the coach at ......"

Gamecocks motivated by gas-pumping comment

South Carolina freshman receiver Alshon Jeffery has taken the high road this week and declined to discuss Tennessee coach Lane Kiffin's gas-pumping comment from earlier this year.

But Moe Brown, one of the Gamecocks' senior captains, said he was offended by the whole thing and said Jeffery confirmed to teammates that Kiffin did tell him that he would end up pumping gas if he signed with South Carolina.

"I’m taking it very personally," Brown said. "I’m taking it personally to the point where I’m going to show him how we do pump gas at South Carolina.”

Jeffery and his high school coach, Walter Wilson, both told ESPN.com for a story in March that Kiffin made the comments during a late-night phone call on the eve of signing day. Wilson said he took it more as an act of desperation by Kiffin when he realized he'd lost Jeffery to the Gamecocks. Kiffin has steadfastly denied making the comments.

Either way, Brown said they won't soon be forgotten.

"I’m a South Carolina native as well as a student here at the University of South Carolina," Brown said. "I’m a 3.2 finance-marketing major, and I feel I’m very intelligent. The last thing I’m going to be doing is pumping gas after I get through at the university here. Some things are just better to go without saying, and I’m pretty sure he didn’t expect for it to come out ... but it did."

You're taking the word of someone you don't know over the word of someone else you don't know. Idiot.
