Yahoo Sports is reporting A.J. Allmendinger is going to be replaced by Scott Speed in the 84 Toyota for the 2009 season. Speed has tested a third Red Bull car, and was expected to enter a Sprint Cup race possibly at Lowes Charllotte Speedway.

At this time Allmendinger is expected to drive the 84 car at Kansas, but his role with Red Bull is uncertain for the remainder of the 2008 season. Allmindinger is rumored to be heading the list of drivers to replace Reed Sorenson at Gannasi Racing.

i realize the money is better, but he could have so much more success in an IRL car.

He did have a modicum of success in the Cart series. there was no mention of any chance he might be looking at the IRL.

i guess he'd rather drive 3rd rate equipment for Ganassi in NASCAR than be competitive.

I'm a big Speed fan. That said, I hate this for Almendinger. He's proved me wrong the past couple of months and for this to happen to him is devastating. He'll end up at Ganassi and that's bad for anyone.

I agree with you about AJ. He's a good guy. I hate this for him. I hope AJ finds another ride.
