Are you the same ones that were calling him the second coming of Jesus Christ when Butch canned Jancek (which you said would never happen, cause CBJ would never make adjustments in the BSiA) and was able to steal Shoop from Penn State. The same Shoop that was near universally declared to be one of the top DC gets in the country and was possibly up for a HC job somewhere?

Just checking.

I mean I get when the emotions are high after a game, reason can be clouded but there are some of you here that have greater irrational emotional swings than this guy

So your not gonna respect his safe space?

Edit: Not me bashing Shoop BTW. I hope Butch fully hands him as much autonomy with players, assistant coaches, and scheme as is possible going into next year.

The same Shoop who would bring out awesome halftime adjustments for the first half of the season as well.

Well, I for one agree with you, OP. Line up, negas, and declare your own personal experiences playing a full season of organized football (No midget stuff and no...not the ones who survived practices long enough to wear a uniform for a short period while riding the pine). The number one enemy to this defensive squad was and is a lack of team chemistry and not Bob Shoop's lack of excellence. Notice how other teams seem to gel near season's end...like our Vols have done the last three years? That's due entirely on the team's individuals finally getting it together as to how they can play as a unit...as one. With a different lineup each and every week and minus much needed team leadership on the field, what more can one expect? There isn't a DC in on the planet who could prevent the debacle this group is facing. Hey Vols. I'm with y'all. AMIRIGHT? Who's with those of us who're still behind team 120?:clapping:

Our defense is trash. Shoop is our defensive coordinator. What am I missing?

McKenzie
Tuttle
JRM
Kirkland
Sutton
TK Jr
And those are just the starters. Most of the D has been banged up most of the year. When you are plugging in people that are not ready (body wise or mentally) then you get rushed all over. When we've had most of our D on the field we have looked really good.

Every team has injuries that's no excuse . FL was missing a lot of there D vs LSU and still shut them down . Even when the team was healthy the D still wasn't great. And giving up over 800 yards rushing to KY and Missouri combined is embrasssing.

We beat those teams by a combined 39 points and you're embarrassed?

We gave up 411 yards to vandy last year and beat them by 25. Embarrassed then?

.

Yes. A win is a win I'm good with that but. We are talking Defense and Shoop is not worth his salary so far. And look at the numbers from last year and this year. We were better last year. 116th in rushing D this year

Ok another one. Ok class have a seat and quiet down.

Mrs. common Sense: today class we are going to talk about defense

Clueless UT fan raises hand

Mrs. Common sense: yes clueless UT?

Clueless UT fan: whats defense?

Mrs. Common sense: we defense is played by players opposite of the offense and is comprised of DL, LBs and DBs. Every team has starting and backups at those positions. Now your starters are your best players at those positions and are vital to the success of your defense. If your starters are hurt, then the backups have to play. They are normally decent, but they arent as good as the starters.

Clueless UT fan: well the defense at Tennessee has been really bad this year and my daddy said there is no excuse for that.

Mrs. Commn sense: well I am sorry but your daddy doesnt know what he is talking about. You see, Tennessee has suffered catastrophic injuries to virtually every level of their defense. They have no starting DTs, severley banged up LBs and a banged up secondary that will have had to start its 11th different starting rotation in 12 games this Saturday. Your DL is so bad that your coach is havning to rotate backup OL just to get enough bodies in there. You see, no team in the SEC has been so decimated by injuries as Tennessee. So by your daddy saying its not an excuse, he is showing his complete lack of knowledge. These are not excuses, just facts.

Clueless UT fan: wow thanks Mrs. Common sense, I really didnt understand how injuries can affect a team.

Are you talking about Kentucky fans, Georgia fans, Missouri fans, Vanderbilt fans, Mississippi, Ole Miss, SC, Arkansas?

,

Other than maybe UGA, we should never compare ourselves with any of those football programs. You may want to go read up on SEC football history and you will see why. The only SEC programs we should ever be comparing ourselves with are Bama, LSU, UF, UGA, and Auburn - those are the only SEC football blue bloods. Unfortunately it looks like a lot of kids these days don't know this and Butch has been successful to converting a good number of our fans to the mindset that second/third SEC tier is good enough - so sad.
