After reading all these threads about radios hating on bray, and people worried about Bray because he played bad teams last year, I have come to a conclusion and a final statement on Bray.

If he is the starter at the university of Tennessee, then he is obviously a good quarterback. Also, he did play well against UNC. Feel free to disagree.

Secondly, as far as the radio shows, they do not have anything to talk about right now so they might as well make things up to make them sound smarter. THey have an opinion, we have an opinion. Who knows, they could be right.
Every school gets hate. I myself have complained too. But I have finally decided that it is worth nothing. Every team gets hate.

Until we actually do something and start winning, there will be more hate.

As for the coaching staff, know one knows how well they develop quarterbacks. Simms obviously did not develop.
But I believe this staff will do their best and do it well to develop Bray.

Feel free to disagree and start discussion

Here's my take on all the talk about Bray. When was the last time we had a QB to speculate about? We have a guy who simply tore it up last year when he played. He'll take a step forward this year and Chaney will do a good job with him. All of the talking right now has me thinking....maybe TN is relevant again...and that's a good thing.

The unwritten rule in sports journalism is, if you need to sell ads or increase subscriptions, all you need to do is create a quarterback controversy.

Two things here:

A) he has been working with the coaching staff long enough that they have had enough time to decide if he should start or if they should go another route, and they are obviously keeping him, which tells us something.

B) I can't remember if it was South Carolina or Bama (or maybe both), but I remember Bray coming into the game late and throwing well, looking much better than Simms. Granted it probably wasnt against the best D, but still very good teams last season

It was Carolina after the early pick 6 mistake. he brought us back. Against bama his youth and nerves showed as he had a hard time getting the players to the line of scrimmage. Seemed shellshocked. Sad part is that was at Neyland against Bama. Down there the Bammers will be rauckous, but i feel by then bray will be up to the challenge as he had already seen a trip to Gainesville.

From watching practices his WRs drop alot of passes. Which explains the comp %.He will be fine when starters are all out there and holding onto the ball. Milton has a way to go. DR is our best WR and Hunter right behind him. Hopefully a slot man shows out.

I don't understand why there is so much hate for Bray and so much love for Tyler Wilson at Arkansas. Bray played in 5 games, Wilson played one good half of football against Auburn who had a very suspect defense last year. I just don't get it.

I personaly like Tyler Bray. Yes he isn't perfect, but I really don't think there's any need to worry.

What's crazy to me is the people being critical of him are mostly basing it on the stats coming out of a few practices that they weren't even allowed to see. And the people who did see it (the coaches) don't seem nearly as concerned as they are. Then they turn around and say you can't trust what he did last year because it was against crappy defenses.

So we're supposed to take a positive impression we formed of Bray based on 5 games we actually saw and replace it with a negative impression of him based on a few practices we didn't see and the coaches don't seem too worked up about. My head hurts.

The jury is still out on Bray but I'm sure not going to start worrying over his practice stats. I'll start worrying if he throws a lot of picks in an actual game.

And yes, the love for Tyler Wilson is ridiculous when it comes to the wait and see approach people are taking with Bray. Wilson's predicted success seems to rely on an assumption that Petrino and his system will field a good QB. Chaney has a similar track record but that would require commentators to remember what happened in college football prior to 2007 and that's a lot to ask of these guys.

I've been to a couple of games at Legion Field; Bama fans are not really that loud. Auburn is a different story.

I never put anything into what "fans" say. If the coach thinks they are good enough to start, then they should. As we at Alabama are paying our coach a lot of money to put the best player on the field. They have more to lose than I do, so I trust them. I do not think there is any ill will to anyone who does not start, coaches want to win and win only. They do not play favorites.

@BACKDOC- we have not played at Legion Field in a while, it is Bryant-Denny Stadium, just a FYI, not bashing. Yes we will be loud and since the last time UT was there we have added 10,000+ seats. Now right at 101,000. Hope to see a good UT following down there. Nothing like two good teams going at it at 2:30 on a Saturday afternoon.

Bray had the most freshman success passing against those four bad teams of any UT quarterback in the history of college football.

That's all that has to be said.

Even Peyton never had that much success in his last four starts of his first year.

That's a fact.

Ditto-Schmitto - Bray is playing with more than a hunch,,the kid tore it up against SEC teams. Might not have tore it up against the top teams,,but regardless,,he tore it up. Can't wait to see his first touchdown toss of the season.:dance::dance:

Uab plays at legion field not Bama. They haven't in years. That place is falling apart.

Casey beat bama as a freshman.

I'd have to give him the better freshman year.

In a normal year, as in when any other freshman QB came in and played well, we had a solid core of offensive players to support that young stud. We had juniors and seniors in a lot of other positions and we had a running game that was strong enough to open up opportunities in the passing.

Last year we had a core of 3--DMo, GJones and Stocker. We had no running game to speak of and for most of the first part of the season, we had no real passing game either. We really had no business playing well for even one half against the big dogs and all the easy games should have looked the same as UAB.

The difference was Bray. In his own way, Tyler Bray lit a fire in the offense that wasn't there most of the year and the results followed. He is a quiet and calm leader and many in Tennessee aren't used to dealing with his kind of personality. He is still young so he makes mistakes, takes a lot of risks and isn't as consistent as the coaches want and probably won't ever completely satisfy them. Regardless, he's the one that will lead this young team and he's proven more than capable. Why anyone would be worried about his ability to play is beyond me. Worry about him getting hurt, sure, but there is no need to worry about his game. This will be an exciting year in Tennessee Football and Tyler Bray will be the eye of the storm that is about to break over the rest of the SEC.
