All Time NBA Players Thread - No Jordan vs. Lebron Debate Allowed

I literally had '96 Sonics in that post as a team that kinda looked like modern teams with their best 5, but retracted it. The biggest problem with this team is you would need Payton and Schrempf to be better creators. There just isn't enough playmaking there, despite the fact that they could spread you out and create matchup problems.

Guard
Wing
F
Big
Stretch big

Edit: and Hersey Hawkins is just too short.
Payton was capable of being a better creator but beyond the first quarter he started wanting to get his.

Karl did love playing Nate with GP so there's a bit of the Carlisle 2 point guards right there

also the space the sonics had from having so many shooters (for the time) allowed Payton to post up more than almost any point guard

side note, Hersey played center in highschool

The sonics always felt like they had some ABA DNA even though they were never in the league

Now you’ve done gone and did it!

I mean, is there a better comp than CJ McCullum? CJ can do more with the ball, but Hawkins probably would be doing the same in this era. McCollum is a winning player if you need his offense, but he also puts a ceiling on your title hopes in this era.

LMAO, Hawkins and CJ both listed at exactly 6' 3" and 190 lbs on basketball reference

bb reference also lists bill Russell at about 25 lbs lighter than the weight he played most of his career at, so theres that

cj just missed a 90 ft shot, he sucks!

fr though i think i remember George Karl saying Hersey was the only guy they didn't have run plays for, he just scored off the chaos

I think it's what they say they are when they are rookies and then it never changes, lol. CJ is definitely 210+ lbs now. I'm 6' 2' 194 and he's got more muscle and fat than me.

they did change Russells height at some point. my entire life hes been 6'9 and all the suddens hes 6'10. also when did they start listing Kobe at 6'6? he was billed at 6'7 while he played

I remember that being inconsistent

I think the funniest height one was Kareem was listed at 7'2 his entire career and everyone that ever played against him said he was 7'4 lol

been poring through advanced stats and the hawks have had an inordinate amount of solid players whos free throw rate was ridiculously high

Jalen Johnson was a top 10 player in the NBA this year and I feel like nobody is really talking about it outside the diehards.

In the Jailblazers documentary, Bob Whitsitt says that there have only been three NBA teams in history with a moniker. The Bad Boy Pistons, the Showtime Lakers, and the Jailblazers.

I immediately thought of the We Believe Warriors and the Grit and Grind Grizzlies. 7 seconds or less Suns. What else?

Lob City for the Clips in the early 2010s? I got nothing else though . I was thinking maybe the 95 Magic had a name, but I guess they didn’t
