The one time I did it was 75 degrees with 97% humidity when the race began. By the time I got to the 14th Street bridge I wanted to jump off.
I had great weather for both MCMs. Sherpa’d two friends that ran together in the pouring rain two years ago and I felt worse after that. I think I probably still jogged a half with a backpack full of their gear, regular pants and a rain jacket trying to meet them at three stops they wanted. The one time I did it was 75 degrees with 97% humidity when the race began. My favorite race is the Shamrock Marathon (also a half option). It’s on the Virginia Beach oceanfront and through Ft Story St Patty’s weekend. Rain, wind, slush, extreme heat. Raced in all of them throughout the years
Big Sur seems like it would be epic. I want to do the vacation races (Tetons, Yellowstone, Zion, Rainer, etc)The Big Sur marathon is on my bucket list as is a 50k in the Marin Headlands. I did the San Diego marathon when I was living in Wyoming. Training at 6200 feet and doing the race at sea level was awesome.
Gottcha bother on the issues. Look at Thorlo's tennis socks. Super padded. I use these for everyday socks.I don't use an insert and I've tried thin and thick but the ones that work best for me are padded in the ball and heel. I'm type 2 diabetic and my feet are faked up.
I ordered that pair, with the oranch.I wear balega blister resist no show socks and love them. About to throw a couple pair away that are at least seven years old. Which means I get to but a couple new pair!

Yeah, I wasn't dishonest on purpose last night, but I was dishonest. I did lose 61 pounds, but I abandoned my diet during the month of December this year. Way too much good stuff to be eaten that I missed out on last year. So I've gained 11 of it back.HBPW at Calhouns picking up some smoked prime rib and grilled skrimps right now.
Lawdy! I'm bout to be fatter, dumber, and stupit happier then usual.
