The Culinary Arts Thread

Anyone of you have a bread pudding recipe you Really like? Not sure I've ever had it. I see recipes with raisins and without. With a sauce and without a sauce. I've found one, well actually 3 that I think I'll incorporate into 1 but I'm not sure it would be bread pudding then. Lol.

My preacher made a comment Sunday about he hasn't had any since his wife passed away and that was one of his favorite things in the world. He said he didn't have her recipe and he's tried several off the internet and just can't get it right. I'm gonna make him one, maybe with someone's suggestions and surprise him with it, then let him describe how it's different/better/worse and go from there.

Anyone?
My Nanny's was the best I've ever had, and it's not like others. She made it in a loaf pan, and it had a kind of smooth texture, not chunky like some recipes are.

Is it a regional thing? He and her both were from Kentucky. Is theirs different from others? Idk.

My son bought a smoker and did all kinds of modifications to make it do exactly what he wanted it to. He added compartments, and I don't know what else. I just wanna eat the brisket. 😁
I just know you raised em to use charcoal. You prefer your men wear Charcoal cologne or nothing at all?

That's a thought. It's not too sweet?

*Just back from Tuesday prayer meeting. You and Jabber Jaws family are covered.
I change my bread pudding recipe as often as I do clothes, it depends on my mood. Yes, I do know how that sounds. It always starts with croissants for me, because of the underlying buttery taste. How old is your pastor, did his wife make him an old fashion bread pudding, what kind of bread were you planning to use (left over rolls work for some people) and are you wanting to make something more updated? There’s questions here.

I know, right??

I bought a bag for Hubs as a present. We’re slowly working our way through it. We add it to the charcoal.

Read about it in the Pub BBQ Grill thread.

PS: It DOES add an extra smell/flavor beyond just charcoal.
Figgered they be talking about charcoal in the Pub.

He's over 70.
I don't know what kind she made.
I hadn't planned on a type of bread yet.
I don't know what updated means.

I talked to him at prayer meeting. He doesn't like raisins in his. He likes a sauce but is okay without it. I'm glad he likes it with a sauce, sauces are my thang and I done seent one I can put some love into an blows his mine.

The reason I use croissants besides the what I said before, they are also lighter. Thank goodness he’s not a fan of raisins here, I completely understand. Sometimes I use Granny Smith apples in the sauce. The very fact you are making it for him will be “mine blowing”.

I found out he likes pistachios. I'm gonna make him some of my World famous smoked pistachio rosemary and white chocolate cookies.

Yea, how well do you like your pastor? I’m too nice or I’d call you a smartazz, smartazz. Oops.
I do stuff like that often, for others I just don't always talk about it. He's kinda lonely now and I feel bad for him. His kids and grand kids are in Kentucky and don't visit him, for whatever reason, and hes getting too old to travel that far often.

Weird I've always heard of bread pudding but just assumed they were talking about banana pudding. How I managed to go this long being wrong and not knowing will forever be a mystery. This looks good to me.

I've noticed some things are way cheaper at Walmart.com than at the store. For 1 my Orange mint Lifesavers. They're $6 and change for the 14.50oz bag at the store, but $2.97 online.

Anyway, I order those, some razor cartridges and notebooks ( these are great). Ordered at 3:07 pm. They were delivered at 4:38pm.

It's Wednesday peoples and I'm striving to make the world a happier better place by changing my standards. I want to be like others think I should be.

There's plenty of choices for natural lump coal at far cheaper prices. Cowboy and B&B are both in the $8-12 range for a 10-12 pound bag. Cheaper than Kingsford as well. I like using it. I still add wood though if I want to add in some pecan, cherry or apple smoke.
