All Thangs Pussum and Chad Thread

Deconstructing Cannoli

Starring: Behr

I know, but I can't help it.

There was a time, in my mid to late 20's that I was embarrassed by my interest in cooking. It wasn't really embarrassment, just didn't seem cool. I guess it still doesn't seem cool, but I just don't care.

I will say, it was always a turn on to women.

Ingles and Harris Teeter don’t make it to Behr’s neck of the woods. Aldi is a natural phenomenon, so he should’ve heard of it.

FWIW, I miss Ingle’s. Harris Teeter (owned by Kroger, so Behr should know Kroger) is waaay too expensive and not very impressive. Aldi is exactly what it is. Cheap and poor quality. Don’t buy the produce unless you’re using it that day and aren’t excited by things like flavor.

Huh, I didn't know that Kroger had bought out HT. So I guess we have a Kroger in Asheville after all. Sort of.

I shop Trader Joe's for non-produce, but I haven't found anything interesting at Aldi's. (TJ's and Aldi's are sort of cousins.)

I loved Kroger when I lived in Tennessee. I

I've never kept up with the retail grocery store news. Unless I passed it on the way home from work or heard someone talk about it, I didn't have a clue.

It's just been the last several years that I actually "shop" at grocery stores and I'm very habitual. I only shop at 4 places and usually get the same things from each, obviously except for convenience. Before then I brought stuff home from the restaurant. This grocery store thing still seems kind of new to me. If that makes sense.

Aldi sounds kind of like Ada's here.

Ingles is the bomb!

I’ve found Kroger’s prices much more reasonable than HT’s even since the buyout by Kroger. Kroger was my go to store in Va Beach. Unfortunately, there’s no Krogers here. Here in DC, I use the Ft Myer/Henderson Hall Comissary or Safeway. I have a nearby HT and a “Giant Food” chain. Not impressed by Giant’s quality, but that prices aren’t awful by DC standards. We do have some Wegman’s popping up, but I haven’t been.

I know Id rather listen to cats screaming to the Red Hot Chili Peppers than listen to Nirvana.

Guessing I am in the minority being a big Nirvana fan.

I’m a fan. I held a grudge for years because I felt Cobain’s inadvertently shot them to superstardom ahead of Pearl Jam, who I’ve always felt was the superior band. Pearl Jam is my all time fave and obviously did quite well in retrospect. I’ve grown to really like Nirvana now that I’ve overcome said grudge.

I’m a weirdo in that I like almost all grunge era stuff, minus AIC. I don’t get their lyrics nor do I get the love of Staley’s voice.

Oh, and Pearl Jam. Lol, you said you don't get AIC lyrics, at least you can understand WTF they saying.

I am also a big fan of Pearl Jam and really the grunge era in general. I do like AIC and Staley’s voice.

You guys ever heard of Goyte? A song called Somebody? It's about 8 years old but I'd never heard until a month or so ago. I can't say it's a good song, but it's one of those that I kinda get, so I kinda like it. They play it on this radio station I listen to. They play everything, sometimes that's not a gold thing.

If you're interested. Dude sounds like Sting when he gets to the chorus.

Was probably my favorite song of the year when it came out. I think he ended up releasing a bunch of different mixes.

Good for you.

I'm not the only one that does. They even made fun of it in Ted. Lulz.

I’m not saying you’re wrong, I only remember the 90s montage Ted mocked doing karaoke. Am I forgetting something?

FWIW, Yellow Ledbetter is/was purposeful heavily yarled and jumbled because Vedder likes toying with the lyrics from time to time.
