Janssen vax (J&J), May 14@volfanbill Im being really nosy here, but I’m exasperated at how badly the US has handled data collection and dissemination, so if you don’t mind:
-when did you get your second original vax, and
-which one did you get?
If you got J&J, then it would be when did you get your vax.
I’m really curious about how long of an interval there is between original immunization and new infection, and possible differences among Pfizer, Moderna, and J&J. I had my immunization tanks topped off (booster) last Friday.
You seem to be one of the more pragmatic posters hereand therefore a reasonably reliable data source. And please feel free to tell me to MYOB, STFU, and GTFO.

You seem to be a useful test subject.Janssen vax (J&J), May 14
Good luck finding reliable data.
I still say the ultimate point will be how this ride goes the next week.
God knows I read enough about this crap. Johnson & Johnson is supposedly the lest effective, because of the one shot deal. Pfizer is next and then Moderna, but who the heck even knows at this point. They rolled out the vaccines to keep us safe and now boosters, to shore up the immune system. From everything I’ve read, immune levels decrease over time (less than a year) from the initial vaccine alone (non prior infected). Prior infected with the vaccine have a longer immune window, but will still need a booster. You seem to be a useful test subject.Fit, low-drama, and observant. View attachment 400946
And interesting that you got J&J, because my older step-daughter got hers on the day of the pause (April 13) and has been wondering about its effectiveness now. She’s in the Bay Area, so she can get a booster before FDA/CDC lumber into action.
Thanks.
We’ve got a nurse that became positive last week. She was vaccinated, but it hit her and her whole family hard. Thankfully, we’ve not had any secondary infections from her. I’m curious also.I think that the most startling thing about this latest wave (Delta mutation/variant) is how it’s hitting younger people. I originally figured that it was because we old farts had a high immunization rate, so younger people were more vulnerable, but that doesn’t explain people like Bill who were vaccinated and, in his case, presumably taking precautions.
Curious.
It’s reassuring (to me, anyway) that most vaccinated-then-infected people have relatively mild cases. Which is exactly what the vaccines were meant to do.
I’m guessing that it’s similar to flu shots, where they can develop a vaccine against the (currently) known versions, but if and when the virus mutates, it’s less effective.I've had 3 Moderna shots plus I've had the COVID once already, so hopefully I don't get it again. Got the booster because I'm immunosuppressed as a transplant patient. But I keep hearing about these "breakthrough" cases and it makes you wonder just how effective these vaccines really are?
The fact that I feel even better this morning than I did yesterday furthers my resolve that they’re effective. I still wear a mask in public, but not in the office. I went to a regular Dr. appt on Wednesday and had no problems. Yea I’m fine. Just can’t taste or smell (hence the salmon conundrum). Like I said above, I feel even better this morning. Did yard work Wednesday and Thursday night, which led to some congestion. Zyrtec took care of it, and from what I read online “If allergy medicine clears up the congestion, it’s allergies”, I thought I was ok. But yesterday I suddenly couldn’t smell or taste so I got tested. And here we are.I've missed all three somehow. I didn't know. I kinda figgered it out this morning though.
When? You okay?
So, you've been vaccinated and tested positive for covid. And you think/know it's not worse because you were vaccinated.Yea I’m fine. Just can’t taste or smell (hence the salmon conundrum). I would love to say “know” but I can’t go that far. I have no aches/pains, fevers/chills, etc. I feel unbelievably strongly that it’s not worse because I’m vaccinated. I’m even going to do a light workout and see what happensSo, you've been vaccinated and tested positive for covid. And you think/know it's not worse because you were vaccinated.
Not insinuating anything, just using the simplest language to make sure I understand.
Makes sense.I would love to say “know” but I can’t go that far. I have no aches/pains, fevers/chills, etc. I feel unbelievably strongly that it’s not worse because I’m vaccinated. I’m even going to do a light workout and see what happens
I’m going to just eat it todayMakes sense.
Glad it's not worse.
I was trying to get off here last night and was kinda short. But if you pulled that salmon from the freezer and it went straight to the refrigerator, was in the fridge for less than 8 hours (thawed) and you take it from its original packaging (cryovac) and wrap it really good with plastic wrap and return it to the freezer, the health dept says it is okay and should be safe.
I never took the chance at the restaurant because I obviously didn't want anyone getting sick, but also because it will definitely effect the flavor. That's getting into the Alto Brown side of it, but though it's safe, the quality takes a hit. And 99.89% of the time if I wouldn't do it at the restaurant, I ain't doing it at home or telling anyone else to.
So, is it okay? Yes. Have I ever done it? No.
