All Thangs Pussum and Chad Thread

@Behr

I had taken out one of the salmon fillets and let it thaw in the refrigerator. It’s still vacuum sealed and since I can’t taste, I don’t want to eat it. Would it be ok to freeze again?

Good rule to follow, but if you thaw it in a refrigerator it's not gonna get in the danger zone for bacteria growth like it would thawing under water or obviously letting it just sit out.
That was my understanding but I figured you’d be the best person to ask. Can it still get bacteria though if it were outside due to the vacuum seal?

Also, not being able to taste SUUUUCCCCKKKSSSS

Been there, it still hasn’t fully came back. Same with smell, though that can be a plus in certain situations.

Yea I’m asking this one hypothetically. Does the vacuum seal not prevent bacteria?
Isn’t there already (pretty much automatically) some amount of bacteria on food before vacuum sealing? I’ve thawed stuff that we vacuum sealed and didn’t use it *cough* right away, and the bag seemed to puff up a bit.

Maybe? I have no idea. That’s why I’m asking Bear

I’m such a germ a phobe that I throw out anything that’s been thawed out.

Yeah, you don't want to trust cryovac.

I'm with ORB. Thaw it and cook it or throw it away has always been my rule even though it's safe if it was thawed out in the fridge and refroze with 8 hours I think. But why play the "what if" game?

Jmo.

Fine maybe I’ll just eat it and imagine it tastes as amazing as all the others
