@rocytop2624, how is Ralph doing?
He is scared and has lost 10lbs waiting on surgery and yesterday his blood pressure was 80 over 45 and I thought I was going to have to take him to the doctor he has had brain surgery and I have never seen him act this way. He is worried about his wife and mom and I told him he's got this and I told him not to worry that I Will take care of them.

Well, this site is going to be a rabbit hole. I love looking for 1st editions, so just looked quickly for Of Mice and Men. Perusing the Vonnegut section is going to take a while.
I found a nice Vol. 1 for you....
Mastering the Art of French Cooking Volume 1 Only! by Julia Child: Very Good Hardcover (1973) | Save With Sam

I've been using them for a couple of months and have contacted the sellers through Abe and requested pictures of covers and inside just to get an idea. Haven't been denied yet.

I've bought several books from thrifty books, they have free shipping on $10 or more and that book I ordered last night was only .99 shipping. They are one that sent pictures on my request.

Steinbeck and Vonnegut = thumbs up for your tastes in fiction, brother....I made copies of "Harrison Bergeron" for my students for years because I think everyone should be exposed to Vonnegut in school. E-copies have made that easier for sure. I always mention Back to School when Rodney's character fired Vonnegut, and (surprisingly) some students these days have seen it. HA We read OMaM, and I show the Malkovich /Sinese movie every year. Sheesh, I have no clue in the climate right now how in the world I'm going to handle OMaM and To Kill a Mockingbird (we do both). You all pray for me on that, please....seriously.

I think Flannery O'Connor is underrated big time. She might be my favorite American author, along with Faulkner and Fitzgerald--all close at the top. I thought John Huston did an excellent job on the movie version of Wise Blood, and on Lost when Jacob was reading Everything that Rises Must Converge when Locke's dad pushed him out of the window causing Locke's paralysis, I went nuts, because that was PERFECT for that show.

/end musings HA

It is time for me to reread the Vonnegut catalogue. That is my favorite scene in Back to School.

Flannery O’Connor is great. I am a fan of Faulkner, but I have attempted and failed several times to get all the way through The Sound and the Fury.
