only let up 500 yards rushing a game......

Sure. But this class is rated far below those guys. And when healthy, Tuttle looked like a first round pick.

On paper this dline class is decent. Not the best class in 5 years.

Something I noticed about this class: eleven linemen, thirteen if you count tight ends. Butch's first class had seven linemen, nine counting tight ends. So there is a demonstrable shift in philosophy, one that I think most would agree is badly needed. We're not still signing just for the stars, but rather actually signing the positions that make or break a team. A quarterback would have been great; another receiver would have been great. But for the amount of time Pruitt had, and the circumstances he stepped into that made what Butch or Dooley - or anyone else who has ever recruited a class to UT - had for their first class, look like nirvana, he did an exceptional job.

Some of those linemen are actually lbs

I think they have a vision but can they get the horses over time. That is the real key.

Huh? I was just saying that class was a heck of a lot better than this one on paper

There’s no doubt that “on paper”, the 2015 DL haul of KMac, Tuttle and Phillips looks much better. But as we’ve all seen, Tuttle is the only player of the 3 that even remotely lived up to his billing, and that was only in a very brief flash or two in his freshman year prior to the injuries.

This year’s class of 4 star DL players Emerson, Lawless, Allen and Gooden is a very good one, and it wouldn’t take much for them to translate to a far better group on the field.....and I’m betting that under Pruitt and Rocker that they’ll far exceed the disappointing performances we’ve seen from that 2015 class. And that’s without any mention of lower rated Mincey who is the staff seems to be very high on. We’ll see.

Allen is a lb. and on paper it’s not as good as the class I mentioned. On the field, who knows. So you can’t call it our best dline class in 5 years, unless you’re D4H

I suppose it is a good thing we swiped coaches from a playoff team on both the DL and LB units then

If this class of lineman don't turn out better than the ones that were highly ranked were in big trouble. McKenzie never did anything to deserve a five star rating. Tuttle is an injury waiting to happen. Most of the success in this group was with three star Vickers.

Did you read the post you responded to? I agreed with you, 2015 class much better on paper, so I didn’t call the 2018 DL haul “our best line in 5 years”, at all.

Only said that the 2015 class never translated to the field, that the 2018 class is pretty good on paper given the 4star players brought in and that it will take very little to surpass that 2015 class in actual play on the field. Didn’t mean to include Allen, my bad.

As far as D4H goes, yes, he’s devoid of all logic and reality as his claims/projections/evaluations 100% support.
