Hopefully this won't be a jinx, but one pleasant surprise so far is the lack of any serious disciplinary issues with the team...no arrests, no reported disturbances, no reported fights, etc....all quiet. Very different from this time last year.

I know there's a long hot summer ahead so keep up the good work boys and stay focused on class and football.

When a player is held out of the first practice for being late to a meeting, I would guess no one want's to find out what happens after an arrest.

It's called discipline and accountability, something the last staff did not believe in apparently.

I wasn't sure where to post this, but did anyone else hear Hardesty's comments yesterday at the press conference. I thought it was interesting he said that under Fulmer, the starters were usually able to "just chill" a lot during practice. Did I hear that wrong.

I heard the same. I had a real good friend play for UT back in 2000 and 2001. When I talked to him he was always talking about how easy the practices where and everyone just kinda went through the motions. That was back when we was good so I can only imagine what it was like at the end.

That was certainly the case with Foster last year and likely contributed to his missed assignments and the ridiculous fumble on the goal line in the UCLA game.

That was a team not ready to play.

What on earth do you think the reasoning is behind that. Is this some type of motivational exercise I am not aware of. I cannot imagine that a team that struggled for many of the last several years since our NC, would just mail it in when it came to practice. It is however, starting to make a little more sense after hearing that.

I liked (and still do) CPF. But sometimes familiarity does breed contempt and complacency. It was time for a big change in many, many ways. We were in desperate need of a new way of doing things at UT.

The program had lost it's mojo, baby.

Hopefully, the Vols will learn be some mean, arrogant SOB's on the field and good men and responsible citizens off the field. The football field isn't the place for passiveness and the "real world" has enough a-holes.

It's sad to think of our team as unpracticed as they were. Some of our past teams had so much potential and then just let it slip away on a lot of occasions.

See LSU in 2006.

We should be a lot better if only because we'll be a finely tuned team ready to play every Saturday.

Word. I was just trying to think of the last time we went an entire offseason without off-field issues like arrests. I like what I see so far

I like what I see too but the summer is when you see the biggest issues come up.

Players will get the boot.

I totally agree that complacency had set in deeply. I'm kind of old school in that I believe you play like you practice, and after watching our on field performances last year it is very obvious that we were not very prepared.

There have been issues around the SEC - at Florida, At alibubba and also at Ole Miss (transferred Gator player), so the discipline - no issues - has been refreshing.

I also have not heard a lot out of the 'little sc that tries' so maybe the ole ball coach is clamping down more this year as well. I think he was neck and neck with CPF last year in player issues.
