But they should back off criticizing the current team or coaches for yesterday's game. It's not like we've never seen this before. I recall a lot of lack luster games vs poor teams. I recall barely beating memphis in 1999, losing to a bad Memphis team in 1996, etc.

Those teams were a lot more talented and deep than this team. Vols are a top 20 team at some positions but not near at other positions. Jmo.

That was not a bad Memphis team. They actually had a very good defense and had they wore orange, UT may have had a NC in 1996. They schemed well and basically had Peyton's number all game. I was there and couldn't believe it until I saw how many got drafted in the years to come.

I heard a retired coach on the radio several weeks ago saying the hardest games to motivate a team for are homecoming games. There is so much going on around campus and the team they are playing doesnt excite the players. Although you won't be able to stop the complaining. I didn't here much after the Georgia or Bama games but every other game isn't good enough for some. It's awful that a coach has to defend himself after a 24 point shutout win buts it's the instant gratification world we live in.

Respectfully disagree 74. They were 4-7 and had lost to Lou Layefette. They lost to East Car after they beat us.

Good D yes, but that loss was inexcusable with a roster of Manning, Terry Fair, Joey Kent, Marcus Nash, Leonard Little, Al Wison, etc.

The players cometely mailed it in. The most lethargic group...looked a lot like the group that lost to Wyoming

We had a top 10 defense in 1996. I really doubt Tiger High's defense was quite as good as our's that year. How many got drafted?

I think the criticism comes from the fact that North Texas may very well be the worst D1 team we have played in the modern era and we still couldn't play the majority of our back ups until very late in the game. We should have been able to roll out players that never see the field by the start of the second half.

I used to like Fuad, and I felt like his criticism of Dooley ended up being greatly justified, but at this point I'm almost convinced he's just a crybaby.

I'd rather hear what they have to say. Positive or negative. They have better insight that what you will get anywhere else.

They have an opinion just like everyone else, if you dont like what they have to say then turn the radio off. Fred White has been Butch Jones's biggest critic not Fuad.

And they know what it's like to walk in these players shoes. Im sure they didn't appreciate criticism of their efforts. Like I said, I doubt any former player can say they never had a game like that in their career. I've followed the Vols since 1964 and I can't remember many seasons at least one lack luster effort didn't exist.

Wow! Do you work for the AD? If not, sign up for Butch's PR team.

That 99 Memphis game sticks out to me or a few games vs Kentucky in the clausen era.

What if the former players are correct? Something is not right with this staff, just watch butch a few minutes into the game red faced spitting and cussing in his headset about to bust veins in his neck!...something is wrong when North Texas makes you do that

Well i am glad we won. It's a W. But we definitely got showed up by a lowly team. Can we not criticize what needs to be worked on ? Still needs to be worked on after 2 seasons. ( not gonna count first one)

What if they are wrong. I have seen a lot of coaches act like Jones, It is funny what people see to fit their agenda.
