Yes, it's true... just got the word from my folks who stopped in for a delicious "Steak in the Sack"... for those of us who've enjoyed this West Knoxville after hours staple the last 30-odd years, this is heartbreaking news... Lord knows, I've dined there many a night in the wee hours and gotten the fuel necessary to make that long drive home to South Knoxville... friends, you will be sorely missed...

I haven't been there in forever, but they always had tasty food and the owner was extremely nice.

Only been there once actually and I've lived here my whole life. Have to try and make it back there to try their Vol Burger. Supposedly it's awesome.

Sad to hear that they are going out of business.

Their food is terrible. IMO.

No worries, govols/cc told me that you can still get a "Steak in the Sack" at the carousel.

Mmmmmmmmmm. Baklava. Back in the day when they first opened, it was my first stop on the way to work (steak in a sack) and my last stop late at night to get beer on the way home.

Those 2 guys must be tired - they were always there.

Place was an institution. One of the early places to find import beers that weren't run of the mill (then). First place I found Fosters, Tooheys and KB Tooth in the "oil cans" (early 80s)

Same here - finished in 81. Drinking age was still 18 at the time so any kid with a crappy mustache could buy beer or even liquor at that liquor store across the street from the school. It was a real mystery how the drive thru at that liquor store got real crowded around 3:30 every afternoon...

What is this strangeness you speak of? :)

"Hi, welcome to Bob's Package Store, can I take your order please?"

We will surely miss Nebi and Nezi the two brother owners and Nadia, Nezi's wife. Nebi, always treated us as family and we made a special trip to go see them last time we were in Knoxville. It's probably due to their health. God speed Nebi and Nezi!!!:salute:
