If they have the intelligence to make entry requirements, they can get a degree. You also changed your statement from diploma/degree to real diploma/degree. Those are two entireiy different matters.

Yes, that's true in many cases. But there are other reasons people fail. Their structured life has changed and they cannot handle a college environment. Their parents aren't there to push them. Other interests begin to dominate their life.

I know several that either flunked out, changed to a different degree, or changed their lives and made it out as intended. If you can make the ACT/SAT score to get in, you can graduate with some sort of a degree. Whether or not it is useful is a different story.
