Alcohol sales at the games

Don't forget, many of those same people that look down to alcohol are on more drugs that keep them looped all day...but that's ok because they're meds.

Of all the ignorance slinging going on, the above post may be the worst. If all of the responsible drinkers would drink responsibly, this wouldn't be a debate. Those that get hammered before games will get hammered before games. Those that just get smooth before the games will continue to drink and approach hammered. I wouldn't mind a beer a half myself as that is all I will pay for. Heck, cokes are already ridiculous. However, students and many adults do not know when to quit. It's too expensive for me to go to a game and sit next to some chick that is sloppy drunk talking on her phone at the top of her lungs or a drunk guy that gives every fan of the opposing team he sees a load of crap. Get loaded before the game if you want, sneak in a little Jack like I do on ossasion , enjoy the game. The game is about the game, not watching the game while drinking beer. Sorry, I imbibe with the best, but having to drink during a game isn't me.

You can say that again.

Did you even see the post I quoted? The post I quoted had nothing to do with: being drunk, students, or games.

It was about a mindset that exists in many small towns in the South where alcohol is frowned upon but many of those same people have medical cabinets full of prescriptions that keep them feeling "great" all day.

Carry on your out place rant.

I completely understood your post and it's still equally stupid and near sighted.

In a lot of ways my values are consistent with being a Republican (married, Christian, father, gun owners, business owner, Southern) but in some ways I can't handle them taking away freedom. Can't buy beer at certain events. Or in certain days. Or in certain counties. And for God's sake we aren't allowed to do what my name indicates I might enjoy.

A bet most on the. here feel the same. 420, huh?

To many going to the game is strictly to go to the game. To others, it is an all weekend event. There is no right or wrong. If you want to get sloppy then do it, but be respectful of those around you. I sadly admit there are games I have been to I hardly remember and have had to watch the replay to see what happened. I was always mad at myself for not waiting till after the game but it just doesn't always work out that way. Its another reason so many people I know spend $500-$2000 in gas and supplies to boat to the game and have not been inside the stadium in years and choose to just watch it at the docks.

The moral of the story is there will always be drinking and always be drunk people at UT games. If you cannot accept that, do not go. On that same token if you are one of those (like myself at times) that have a few too many before the game at least be respectful of others around you and maintain a little dignity. The same goes for bars, restaurants, football games....it doesn't matter. I have seen stone cold sober non drinkers being more obnoxious and offensive than most clearly intoxicated people I see. Just my two cents (again). Cant we all just get along?

I would love to get a cold beer at the game. I don't care what any of you say that would be absolutely amazing. I think it would help the $ situation. I get a cold beer at the game and UT makes more $. Win Win situation in my opinion.

Too many puritans in east TN for this to every happen. Though I bet if it did you would see the university crack down on people sneaking alcohol into the game. They don't care currently. But if they started serving beer at games then the people smuggling in booze would be cutting into their new revenue steam and that's bad for business. I'm all for beer being sold at games. Just divide the sections into alcoholic and non alcoholic and everyone is happy.

Greatest thing ever was the police escorting 4 drunk fammers out of the Terrace.. talk about NO class.

It amazes me the number of opposing fans [ wearing their colors] sitting in both the Terrace & Club seats. With the required donation & prices paid, why do UT fans
give these tickets to friends who feel the need to wear their opposing colors.

NC, it's all about the mighty dollar. We refuse to sell our tickets, well burn them before selling to the other team.. you should see all that do sell.. hate them sitting near or around us... 😠

Unfortunately, there are many who subscribe to this belief, especially conservative Christians in the South. I grew up Church of Christ in the South and they would label a person a drunk if they were having a single beer. Many people I knew would drink alcohol at home because they were afraid what people would think if they saw them having a beer.

My favorite is when they would tell us that the wine in the bible was non-alcoholic. LOL

Times they are a changing. Baptist will even occasionally speak to one another at the liquor store.

Based on my experience last year, I am a fan of a breathalyzer test before entering the stadium.

So you're telling me that to enter a game every fan should have to blow below .08 to have entrance into Neyland Stadium? This would have the opposite effect of what you seek. People would get even more creative sneaking booze in and more of it and get drunker during the game. Not to mention the ginormous cluster **** it would be getting into the stadium before hand.

They should have one of those interlock devices at each seat. Have to blow every first down.

Blow over and you're tossed out.
