SEC Film Room is doing a preview of the SEC Championship Game, and they were interviewing Reggie Ragland. They were showing footage of the Bama vs. Tennessee game. This is more of a paraphrase, but this what he had to say:

"Tennessee, man they're fast. Texas A&M was fast, but Tennessee was the fastest team we played all year. The way they move, the plays they run, Dobbs and the running backs, even the way they break the huddle, everything is just so fast with them. It was a lot to handle."

i think what we're starting to figure out is that among the peer group, those that beat TN feel pretty good about it. like they accomplished something.

little solace here for the loser of those games, but i guess it's "nice" to be thought of that way. a little validation for the "eye test" that many, self included, believe we passed this year.

I really really want Michigan..... if Bama struggled with our speed, what in the world is Michigan going to do about it?

It definitely wasn't the same UT they were used to seeing.

Playing fast like that should open holes in the defense. Just need to take advantage

i don't think there's really anyone we should worry about playing, save just the "bad match up". of the teams we'd be pooled with in the Big 10 and ACC to play in a bowl, there's only a couple that i think could cause us serious match up problems.

no, it wasn't. it wasn't the same UT i was used to seeing.

as the season went along, even early on against UF and OU, and later validated against BAma, what we were doing wasn't fluky "luck" type stuff. we playing with, and at times, out playing those teams. because we could, and we did.

you're right, just gotta figure out a way to take advantage of those opportunities when they're there.

Someone needs to talk to Ragland and set him straight. He obviously didn't get the VN memo that we suck.

Michigan is every bit as fast as Arkansas and they didn't seem to bothered by our speed.

Did you miss the first half? We got to the edge with ease and carved them up. And that was on a slippery field with Dobbs not running much and after getting our hearts ripped out in Gainesville.

We lost to Arkansas mainly cause they controlled the clock and Dobbs didn't have a good day passing.

Athletically we were superior to them.

Tennessee was a hard team to beat this year, 4 losses by a combined 17 points to 2 good and 2 really good teams. I think teams dread coming to Knoxville next year, or even playing Tennessee.

Next year is the year that most felt would be the year that we would see the fruit of the recruiting cycles. More upperclassmen, more time in the weight room, etc. I, for one am encouraged about our season. Was it what have could have been? No. But what we saw this year was the crossroads. A young, extremely talented team had to learn to win. The UGA game was that big win for us that got the monkey off our back, and even though we lost, I feel the Bama game was the game that really sealed it in the minds of the players that they can play with and beat anybody. We play OU now, we close them out no problem. If we play Northwestern in the Outback Bowl, they will get obliterated.

Bama has a hard time with the fast O's. That's why Saban whines about it & wants it outlawed. A little less talent there & we beat them in Tuscaloser this year. We'll get them in Knoxville next October

It's about HUSTLE! And some on VN think it doesn't matter if we sprint between quarters.... Other teams notice.......... Psych!

I have never seen a fan base get so giddy over a coach or player giving Tn compliments. We have a player and coach pass out compliments but the sad part is Tn lost both games. Now if we can get Ark player or coach and Fla player or coach to chime in then we have all 4 loses covered.

"Athletically we were superior to them" Did you watch the second half of that game? They pushed our d-line about 3 yards down the field on every play. We got whipped up front on both sides of the ball in the second half.
