Considering he retired 2 months ago from the NFL...

You think any way we could get him in here as an assistant or LB coach or assistant tothe LB coach...

Think he would be interested...? It would be cool to have him since he was on the 98' squad plus one of the greatest defensive players to ever wear the orange..

Man I miss watching him play...

just a thought.. what do you think..

I have been posting this everywhere I can...It should be in the contract of the new head coach that he must hire Al Wilson! He is exactly what we need in so many ways. He is an in your face guy who commands respect. He would whip some of these guys into shape, and get maximum effort from them on every down. He would be an awesome addition to whatever staff comes in here. Also, he is a Tennessee guy that everybody LOVES! Bringing him in would help ease some of the tension with the people that are upset over replacing Fulmer. Don't get me wrong, he won't fix it...but he is loved by all, and it would be a real positive to have a former player of his popularity on the new staff. He would probably be a hell of a recruiter too. Can you imagine his intensity in a recruits living room?! Go Vols!!!!

I would love to see Big Al on the sidelines again,,,think he would get the players fired up like Trooper did? Would like to have saw both of them on the same staff!

OMG! That would be a dream come true!!! I could live with anybody they got for head coach if they got Al too. The fire and motivation he could bring to the field, can you imagine? Watching clips of him made ME feel like I wanted get out there and do something! lol He's gotta be ready to get out of real estate.

Big Al would be a big boost to the program as wopuld Trooper Taylor. I believe though if they get Gruden or Cowher. They will hire their own staff but I am sure there will be some recommendations.

Big Al is from Jackson, Tn my home town. I grew up with him and went to the same high school with him. He also still has a house in Jackson in a neighborhood right beside mine. I'll try to generate his interest, although the likelihood of him coming to help out with the Tn program is about a zero percent chance.

Al wouldn't do it like TT; nobody talks backs to Al!

Seriously, Al as the linebackers coach is not a bad idea. I say that with no knowledge of whether or not the man can coach at all, though.

IF Gruden came and had Wilson as the LB Coach can you imagine standing in front of those two and saying I got caught with some weed Coach or I didn't go to class Coach?

I wonder if he truly understands X's & O's...or did he just get by on pure athleticism.

Considering his continued excellence in the NFL, you would have to assume that on some level he certainly understands x's and o's. I think he falls into the "Loves Fulmer" camp so the odds of him coming to Tennessee in this round for anything other than a cursory appearance are probably 0.

Yeah not all good players make good coaches. MLBs usually make a lot of the calls on defense though so I figure he has good knowledge. I also remember Raynoch saying Al helped him a lot in '98 when Al was unable to play. He damn sure would light a fire under guys and I guarantee discipline would improve.

Does anyone know if he wants to coach or not? Some guys walk away from the game and don't want to return once they retire. I assume it's a tough time to be in the real estate business though.

I would agree, I just have to wonder how he would be at passing his knowledge on to others.
Very nice point. A lot of people are great at what they do, but the ability to transfer that to someone else is something else. LIO I get a +1 here eh?

As much as i love and respect Al Wilson, i still think its funny he is everyone's answer to anything in Tennessee football.
