Al Wilson was a bad man

Why did dudes back then look so much more like grown men than the players now?
Because back then we ate burgers, steak, potatoes and drank choccy milk.

Now the kids eat sushi, tofu, gluten free veggie sticks, and drink water. Weak!

eta. PJax is stealing my material. Get outta my brain, Bro.

I love it!

I did see at least two (what would be called today) targeting calls in that montage though. Shows how that part of the game has changed as well.

@McDad @PEPPERJAX well I have noticed that I've gotten much larger (in a good way) since I started eating basically just meat. Maybe I need to add the tap water.

Yeah, no, sorry.

Unless all those artificial hormones are in your system at puberty and a few years after, it's too late.

I watched Al grow up here and one Summer I helped a buddy of mine during practice for a 14-15 year old all-star baseball team Al was on. I can tell you with 100% honesty Al was as competitive and intense then as he was as a player at UT and the NFL. He was the most competitive kid I'd ever seen at that age even in baseball practice.

I was in UT summer football camp with Al during his senior year of HS. Lovie was our group coach. Same summer as OJ on the run. Al played the game like it was meant to be played. I am not sure he could play the watered-down version of football that they force down our throats now. Too many "targeting" penalties, if you want to call them that. I loved watching Al every Saturday.

Al was the real MVP of the national championship team. The way I heard it, he would get after anyone on the team who he thought wasn't going full speed all the time. And he was so intense that they actually feared not living up to his expectations. I don't know how true that is, but it sure looked like that on gameday.

True. Go back and look at the UF game and the coin toss to start overtime. Even though he is no where close in size to UF’s Jevon Kearse, the look in his eyes just tells you his intensity. Maybe his greatest game as a Vol.

Believe Al would be second behind Reggie in my Top 2 Favorite All Time UT Defensive Players.

Anyone agree?
