If you are a Vol fan, you're a Vol fan. If you're a true Tennessee fan you have to roll with the punches and change with the times.''

Great read

Al is what makes UT football great. The level of play and consistency was unparalleled by anyone. We would be lucky to have him as a GA linebacker coach.

"But you don't have to choose between coaches. If you are a Vol fan, you're a Vol fan. If you're a true Tennessee fan you have to roll with the punches and change with the times.''

Fulmerites... Big Al has explained this as clearly as it can be stated.

No wonder we all love this guy. What a Vol!!

Get him on the staff in some capacity... please!

Great read and of all the former players, Al wilson is maybe the main one I'd want to support the new coaches. I like the fact that he's realistic about everything even though you could tell he really liked Fulmer. If he could somehow make it on the coaching staff I'd love it.

He is by far my favorite Vol. Like he said, if you're a Vol you'll always be a Vol...just roll with the punches! Get this guy a job on the staff!!! Does anybody know what he's doing now that he's retired?

I've said it many times and will continue to say it, without Al Wilson and Jeff Hall, TN goes 8 and 3 in 1998, period.
Al would be an incredible addition to the staff! :dance2:

Wonder if Al's visit is, to some degree, a hint of interest in possibly coaching here in the not-so-distant future, under Monte. I don't know if his camp is already over or not, but that leads me to wonder if he doesn't have some growing aspirations to coach. Thompson may be a good recruiter, but I think Al would prove to be both a recruiting magnet, and a heck of a LB coach. He's got plenty of bling (SB and NC) and a former NFL Pro Bowler would get the attention of any recruit. His natural leadership style tells me he'd make a great coach.
Wouldn't take him long to get in good with HS coaches and recruits no matter where you assign him. In fact, I'd dare say Al would be become the top recruiter on the staff within the first 2 years...with CEO taking him under his wing and showing him the ropes. He'd be your closer...when you REALLY wanted a...Jesse Scroggins or Jeff Luc. USC has Ken Norton Jr...why not Al Wilson at UT?

I agree 100%! I think Al will be on the UT sideline very soon! Does anybody know what he's doing now that he is retired from the NFL?

You won't find a bigger Vol than Al Wilson. I don't care who you talk to or where you look, there is no one who is more ALL VOL than AW.

I can now embrace black jerseys if that's what happens.

"Black jerseys? I'm a realist about the situation,'' Wilson said. "It's a new age and a new day, and these kids love to play in black and do different things.

"I'm all for it; it helps the kids get a different type of energy.''

Nooooo!!!!
