The Vols are recruiting Cohen as a potential offensive tackle, he said.

Cohen said he and teammate Joshua Jones, who also landed an offer from Tennessee during the visit, met with Vols offensive line coach Will Friend and quality control analyst Cameron Clemmons. Cohen said they “learned the schemes and plays” while talking with Friend and Clemmons.

“The atmosphere” at Tennessee, Cohen said, and “the feeling you get when you get there” impressed him most during his first look at the Vols.

“Everyone treats you like they’ve known you their whole life,” he said. “That stands out.”

But he admitted his offer from Alabama, the team he grew up liking, has made the Crimson Tide the team to beat for him.

“I see ‘Bama as my leader,” Cohen said. “I was definitely a ‘Bama fan at heart growing up despite quick stints with other teams. It will definitely be tough to pass on ‘Bama.”

Cohen said he’s scheduled to visit Clemson on Monday, and he plans “on seeing Tennessee again,” although he hasn’t set an “official date” at this point.

He said he currently expects to announce his college decision near the beginning of his senior season “or possibly this summer.”

announced his top group of contenders Tuesday morning and seven SEC programs made the cut -- Missouri, Texas A&M, Tennessee, Alabama, Mississippi State, South Carolina and LSU - 247

also does anyone at 247 actually edit their articles? They need an editor really bad, or fire the one they have.

He is currently listed as a 2019 recruit in the article

If the wheels don’t fall in Columbia this fall, the cocks are set up for huge recruiting year. Atleast by their standards. They are in on some highly ranked recruits for 2020.

One prospect who will likely blow up after Friday’s camp is Central (Ala.) offensive tackle Javion Cohen, who earned MVP honors. He’s a bit undersized at around 270 pounds, but the 6-4 lineman can really move. He stoned 5-star end Myles Murphy on consecutive reps to start 1-on-1 drills. Murphy got his revenge later in the setting, but Cohen showcased his potential. Auburn and Georgia Tech offered Cohen on Friday. Tennessee had already extended a scholarship, but look for the Vols to becoming bigger players here for the Alabama native and former South Carolina commit.

Won OL mvp at the rivals camp
What stood out as much as anything with Cohen was his will to compete. He was the only offensive lineman to have success against five-star defensive end Myles Murphy. They went head-to-head many reps, and Cohen won his share. Cohen has re-shaped his body, looking like a defensive lineman and he showed good feet, a strong base and the ability to move with big, strong ends and the smaller, faster ones. He recently decommitted from South Carolina and he re-opened his recruitment. Auburn jumped in the mix Friday with an offer.
