Elsewhere at defensive back, Tennessee continues to work on Tim Merritt. The Vols have came on strong in the last couple of weeks, but the Hurricanes have continued to work to keep him in their class. Miami is willing to spend to keep him, from what we are told, but does he opt for proximity to home and family by choosing Tennessee in the end? This one is a tight race heading into the finish line and Merritt typically plays things close to the vest.

Yeah, no one who knows of his existence UNDERRATES him. Best we can hope is that we have an eventual succession line that keeps him in the fold. Keeps learning under Rodney who is never going to be pressured to hang it up before he’s good and ready.
