AJC: Vols' Coaches Best At Negative Recruiting

Rice is in the midst of an 18.5 million guaranteed, 40+ million possible, 6 million signing bonus contract and just got a super bowl ring.

I know it's just a random old jab, but dude is doing real well for himself.

Yeah, but he hasn't really been relevant since 2009 statistically. Actually, I think 2009 was his only really good season.

Rice is overpaid. Grossly overpaid relative to his production in Seattle. He fleeced the Hawks for that contract coming off a season-ending injury his last year in Minnesota based on one season of actual production. It was a bad move for a franchise that has made otherwise good decisions lately.

I say have at it! As long as we are not breaking the rules then have at it! If you think bama Georgia or Fla won't cut your throat and leave you to die you'd better think again! SEC homerism is for fans and oblivious ones at that! I can promise you that coaches in the SEC do not want you to do well on the field and in recruiting, so to heck with them! I agree! I think it means that we are finally doing something right. I'm tired of Alabama fans saying things like, "I thought Dooley was a good guy!" Crap on them. I liked it more when they were calling Fulmer Phil and hated our guts because we beat their @#* every year!

Probably just playing to their audience. Remember the AJC released a video about negative recruiting against UGA last year too with the kid that posted the picture of the bong on his trip to Oregon. However, if it's true then I question the mental toughness of recruits who are whining about "negative" things that coaches said from schools they didn't even choose. Glad our guys are taking the high road and emphasizing the positives about Butch and where this program is headed!

I'll wipe that off the record.

For some reason I thought Jeffery's first year was in 2010, therefore Kiffin was recruiting him in 2009 while Rice was going off.

So, at the time Kiffin said that, USC had not really produced a WR worth much. Though, Rice was a 2nd Rounder but that doesn't really much a whole lot.

that explains the price of gas...

UGA homer just catering to his audience. He said similar things about Auburn last year after they pulled Adams and Lawson out of GA. The fact that he is talking about Tennessee like that is a VERY GOOD thing IMO. It means they are once again worried about Tennessee going forward.

Smart guy. He is getting in his excuses early. Some of you are giving him too little credit.

OH JF took half of his vandy team to penn state didn't he, think penn state will wear all black at home games.:eek:lol:

I doubt that UT is in any position to negative recruit against anyone at the moment. The AJC has a wet dream for UGA

Actually we are in pretty good shape to negative recruit.

"Son, why would you want to attend Alabama? You realize that you will likely red shirt your freshman season and see special teams play your red shirt freshman and sophomore seasons? Why not come to U.T., where you can see the field your first season?"

"Son, why would you want to attend South Carolina? It is very likely that coach Spurrier will retire before your four seasons of eligilibity are completed. Here at U.T., Coach Jones will be here for decades to come."

"Son, why would you want to attend Kentucky? You realize that here at U.T., we put many players in the NFL each and every season?" At Kentucky, you will be fortunate to be selected in the NFL." "They won't coach you up to NFL potential"
