Huge mistake. This guy only finished his masters less than 3 years ago.

The best S/C coaches I have ever met had no formal education in the physiology disciplines. S/C coaches are like bricklayers, you're most valuable schooling comes from the performance of the job.

Fitzgerald recommended him after he left.. He was already working in the program. Pruitt knows what he wants for S&C, so obviously this guy qualifies for what Pruitt is wanting.. Or he would have not been hired. No worries for me. This is not the Jones fiasco. Jones let the players rule after he canned Lawson.. You won't see this in the Pruitt regime.

I think Artis will be a good promotion from within and he already has established a camaraderie with the legacy players.

Dude was born in 1993, making me feel like an old timer!

As long as the young bucks like him and he knows what he is doing and keeps players motivated to excel, that's all that matters!

Ask Florida how it worked out when they wanted to interview Spurrier when he was willing to come back to the Gators! He had won conference Championships and a National title and they asked him to submit to an interview! Guess they didn't know him? South Carolina wanted him without the interview!

You know these replacement position coaches are costing a lot less and are better recruiters than the coaches we lost.

Everyone hated to lose Fitz though. Hopefully Artis has soaked in all that Fitz knowledge.

Why would you think that? Pruitt has the available resources to hire anyone in the country that he wants. He chose a man who was already on his staff from the beginning and appears to be fully qualified. What does age have to do with it? Obviously A.J. Artis has earned this opportunity.

Pruitt has been grooming this kid to take over since he was first hired. I think he grooms all of the assistants to take over bigger jobs in case someone leaves so he can have continuity.

Actually, Pruitt hired Kindal Moorehead to take Artis' place as the Asst Strength Coach. Moorehead has been the Asst Strength Coach at Alabama since 2010.

Well maybe with the previous hire of Fitz having been as the S&C coach at Catholic University from 97-99, assistant director of strength at Maryland 2000-2005, Director of S&C Harvard 2005-2009, Director S&C USCe 2009-2011 under Spurrier, Penn State Director S&C 2012-2013, S&C at Houston Texans 2014-2017 before coming to Knoxville. Maybe age does have something to do with one of the most important jobs in the football department as experience comes with age. This was also one of the main reasons that Butch tanked so bad.
