Ainge helped us realize that Casey Clausen was a pretty damn good QB......

Now Crompton makes Ainge look like an All-American...

Notice: Our standards have become relative to past mediocre play....

You're either blind or special.

Clausen was not better than Ainge.

Ainge is playing in the NFL, and Clausen is back home with daddy.

But I guess you have a better judge of talent than NFL scouts, coaches, and owners.

IMO Clausen had as much talent as ainge but good ole randy sanders made him worse... Ainge would have been a lot worse than clausen if sanders was still here and not Cut so what is comes down to is Cut>Sanders

I guess you are blind or special. Clausen was a much better college quarterback than Ainge. The stats speak for themselves. Then, there is the wins and losses. But I guess you are a better judge of a quarterback than wins and losses, yards, or touchdowns.

I believe Clausen was in the NFL for a minute too, we will see how long that lasts. Clausen was a much better COLLEGE qb than Ainge.

Clausen was in the NFL just as long as Ainge has been.

Clausen never made an NFL team, so he wasn't in the NFL as long as Ainge.

Clausen was a much better college qb but didn't have the arm strength to play in the NFL.

If you want to say Sanders was a bad OC I can agree but he is a very good QB coach. Look what he did with Woodson at UK.

To say he made Clausen get worse is laughable

No he wasn't. He played for the chiefs, and only made it through preseason, he wasn't even asked to stay on the practice squad.

Ainge made the starting 52 man team.

I saw Clausen play in the NFL, he didn't play a minute against the Browns in preseason. And he was picked up by the Chiefs! If a QB couldn't make the practice squad for the Chiefs, then thats a great judge of talent. They're not known for great QB's lately.

I would have rather had Casey in the SECC last year, bottom line.

Ainge also had the benefit of the Jets making an exception and keeping 4 qb's on their roster this season! The normal NFL team only carries 3 qb's.

Yeah the intelligence and logical reasoning of some people on this board abhor me.

Probably some 7th graders chatting from homeroom. And weren't even alive for our NC, so the only "greatness" they've seen in their life is good ole' Casey "wounded duck" Clausen.

those things don't count when you're good enough to hold a clipboard for the Jets.

I have nothing against Ainge but he was not a better QB than Clausen. I also didn't know there were any who thought he was so you learn something new everyday.

STOP BEING IGNORANT AND UNEDUCATED

I watched him play live in the NFL, I live in Kansas, he didn't make the team. Stop talking about something you know nothing about.

Which would add even more credibility to the argument that Ainge is better than Clausen. They found his raw talent so good, that they had to keep him on the roster. For either one of two things.

A.) THey think he has potential within the organization to come up and start for them one day.

or

B.) They think he has potential and want to use him as a bargaining chip during a trade.

I agree, I don't even see how an argument could be made for Ainge being better than Clausen.

Either way Crompton needs to be replaced with Stephens, how much worse can it get?

HAHAHA...I don't think so. If he was that good he would be backing up Farve. He is not....he is the #4 qb on thier team. Bottom line Clausen was better. He did not give away a SECCG. By the way I think both of these qb's are a MAJOR drop off from what we had in the 90's. Its not like I am a big Casey Clausen fan. He was a better college qb though. I really don't care what either of them do once they are in the NFL.

And to whom ever said that Clausen's stats were better than Ainge's are you blind?

I just looked at them, and Ainge's are better than Clausens across the board. For his career, and if you take their best seasons and compare.

Clausen career stats
Total yards: 8234
TD's: 60

Erik Ainge career stats
Total yards: 8700
TD's: 72

Clausens best year 2003:
Completion %:56.6%
Yards:2968
TD's:27
Int:9
Rating:134.32

Ainge's best year 2007:
Completion %:62.6%
Yards:3522
TD's:31

Int:10
Rating:135.48

It is a vicious cycle of mediocrity.
just compare units to units 5 and 6 years ago all of them used to look better.
This maybe one of the better secondaries but that has honestly never been UT's primary strength.
