The general population isnt into country like they were back in the early to mid 90's when Garth was the man....that whole vibe is gone and has been... leaving country music strugglin to appeal to the next generation and so far it just isnt happening...Shania was the closest thing....definately a crossover but most of that was her looks and Mutt Lang

The last thing my daughter would be into is country music..at 13 she and most of her peers could giva rats ass about wrangler jeans, rodeos, songs about being cheated on in a relation ship etc....most kids (who are the ones that buy records) just arent into that crap anymore....
I'm not the biggest cntry music fan, so not defending it, by any means, but living in Nashville, it is alot more popular than you give it credit for...

Yeah thats right, however Im basing my opinion on national record sales or even international, I would say Country Music is confined to mainly the southern area....

Country is not primarily confined to the South. It's big business and popular as ever. Just to a different crowd. Don't get much Hank JR style anymore, but it's out there. More like pop music. Alot of today's country can play on either chart. But, there is also alot of good, fresh, more mainstream country still getting play time. My stepson is 15. From what i hear blaring, alot of the kids listen to everything. The radio will go from Rap, to whatever you call this modern stuff now, to country.

Well, I lived on the West Coast for thirty years and country music was certainly abound.

Yeah I know Im not necessairly saying no one listens to it anymore, Im basically looking at record sales on it....Granted all records sales are down now but I would be willing to bet country is close to the bottom sales wise....

Yeah, that Carrie Underwood is having real problems selling albums. So are Keith Urban and Tim McGraw.
