I wish her the best..but coming from someone that was in the music business professionally for 12 yrs....I can tell you that she is talented but will never be a "star"...her only hope is as a songwriter and if she is lucky sell some of her songs to a publishing company and have a major artist pick one to record....but you wont see her on a major record in a store anytime soon...she doesnt have the "look"' and that is 80% of the battle...the 20% is actual talent....now days you can suck at singing and come out of the studio sounding like a million dollars because of the computers involved in the recording process....but she is one of millions with talent in songwriting...:dunno:

Sort of like most of the "new" country music stars. None can sing in my opinion. Kenny Chesney can't carry a tune and is certainly no virtuoso musician but he sure has gotten to be a big star. Same can be said of Tim McGraw. Neither one of those guys have a great musical talent yet sell records.

and that is partly my point...They dont have the 20% of the talent needed...but they do have the 80% in looks...thats why they sell records...because to women they look good in Wrangler jeans and riding on John Deer tractors..Ainges sister doesnt have anywhere near the looks....

I always thought Chesney looked kind of like a weasel.

Now, while I don't care for much of the country music, I know Keith Urban has some talent. He can play the he-ll out of the guitar and is a pretty decent singer.

I am more into Jazz, where musical talent DOES count and record sales don't too much.

Ah, but you are discounting the efficiency of the method of picking stars--a single elimination tournament using text messaging, the clap-o-meter, and Paula Abdul as the scoring system.

I actually knew a woman who was on the first (I think, possibly the second,) Nashville star. It is a very difficult task to make it through that ringer.

take it easy on Kenny since he's a big Vol fan. I agree with what you're saying as far as looks, but that's not always true. Look at Yearwood (large and in charge)and Toby Keith for that matter (his nose looks like a wrestler's ear). By the way, Kenny's short and bald. I will say that after looking at Ainge's sister, if she has any chance she'd better be one heck of a singer.

:lolabove: Oh you guys are killing me this morning. :eek:lol:

Well, he does. And it rips me a new one every time I think about how he jumped all over the Vols bandwagon right when he was getting to be a big star. You talking about someone kissing Peyton's ass. Chesney is the king. Can't stand him.

The general population isnt into country like they were back in the early to mid 90's when Garth was the man....that whole vibe is gone and has been... leaving country music strugglin to appeal to the next generation and so far it just isnt happening...Shania was the closest thing....definately a crossover but most of that was her looks and Mutt Lang

The last thing my daughter would be into is country music..at 13 she and most of her peers could giva rats ass about wrangler jeans, rodeos, songs about being cheated on in a relation ship etc....most kids (who are the ones that buy records) just arent into that crap anymore....

You guys make it sound like country music is still being actively produced in studios and sold, which isn't the case at all.

Compared to what's been done in the last five years, Garth Brooks looks like a cross between Jimmie Rodgers and AP Carter. I consider Brooks to be more southern rock than country, but that garbage they try to call country today is just awful.

Because most 13yo girls are really listening to good music? :eek:lol:
