Ainges Seperated Shoulder

I am hopeful about Clausen... I think he did pretty good, considering everything. He had several impressive passes. Let him get settled in and two solid weeks of practice.

If the O-line does not play better than they did today, it wouldn't matter who is taking the snaps, not even if Peyton came back for the Kentucky and Vandy games.

Clausen played well.....i am on the field at the games and he has a good arm...the deep ball was money......he made one mistake and everyone thinks he sucks..... that comes from inexperience playing games.....ainge has made some mistakes too.....none of his cost us games so they didnt matter.....but that wasnt the diff. in the game....there were other chances.....and i dont kno bout that 1 call.....i sure thought Fayton caught that one.....i believe the ref is an idiot.....

Clausen:10-18,120 yards......not too shabby

You forgot one part of his stats "int-1" Which was the differnce in the game. I don't care if he went 17-18, that one pick was what lost it.

Yeah, but on that basis you've got to say Ainge and Schaeffer suck since they've made some spectacularly bad & costly plays this year too. And you'd definitely have to say Pugh sucked, since he helped Fulmer get Ainge hurt and Clausen sacked a few times, including the first play of our last possession.

Overall, Clausen looked better than I expected, but the difference in the game was that Chavis obviously got the D's spirits and will up at halftime, while Sanders and Fulmer failed yet again, as per usual, to keep the O from getting psyched out in the face of adversity.

Except for that stupid interception Clausen threw,he looked pretty good to me.

Takes more then one bad play/decision to lose a game. If the O line would have given Clausen better protection......different ball game.

:crap: <-----That cracks me up!!!

Ryan, it was just a poor decision by our 3rd string QB that has little if any PT. Was that more important than the incomplete call by the ref on Fayton's catch? That call did about the same amount of damage. How about the ND player "taking his knee" on the KO? Might have brought us some postivie results. How about bad snaps, poor punting? This was a team loss not a loss by Clausen.

I was just pointing out that the pick was a MAJOR part of his stats that was left out... Clausen played better than I expected of him, but it still wasn't enough. As a Junior, he should have known not to throw that ball... then again, Casey sometimes tried to force things like that too. May be in the blood.

You're right about the Fayton catch, and the knee... bad calls by the refs.

Yeah, me too LIO. The irony is that if we hadn't lost Ainge we wouldn't have lost the game. Oh well....ain't college football grand? One of the greatest games on earth/

Prior to yesterday, Clausen had only played in three games. I think, excepting the INT, he did very well. But I still hope Ainge is back in time for the Vandy game.

I became a Vol fan a few years ago because I was sick of the bellyaching the bammers do. Fire this coach, bench this player after one bad play.

W T F ??????

Come on guys!!!!!

Let me spell it out for you. Clausen did what was asked of him and I commend him for the effort he put forth. I saw him go into that game and take charge, throw the ball all over the field. He threw the deep ball and threw it well.

It is the same situation the bammers are in. They put their season in the hands of Croyle. Then the second string went out. They were blaming losses on Pennington. Because he was playing like a "Division I-aa or Division II QB."

HE IS THE THIRD STRING QUARTERBACK!!!!!

How many SEC GAME snaps did Clausen take at LSU. Hardly any. How many has he taken this year? Hardly any. Given the situation he played his heart out. The third string QB didn't hurt us. The Inexperience at Center hurt us. The inconsistancy in officiating hurt us. But they aren't to blame for the loss.

Bottom line...... We looked pitiful out of the gate. Looked like the games against Auburn, and South Carolina. It looked like they Showed up and we thought we already had it won. You start out slow and you are swimming up stream all day!
Why did Sanders give Clausen the green light to air it out? But make Ainge hand it off every time??

How many SEC GAME snaps did Clausen take at LSU. Lets remember this is a QB with a National Championship Ring.

Actually, last year he was at UT sitting out for the madatory season after transferring from one D-IA to another.

But you're right... for how long it's been since he REALLY PLAYED with the 1st teamers... the did well.

I have to agree with AlabamaVolunteer, Whaalabama fans tell me every day how well they are doing despite all the odds (like no other team ever had problems). Every friggin' day it's "we'd be a BCS team if we had Brodie". "We've had to live with 15 years of the NCAA out to get us..." Blah, blah blah. They've found a way to feel good about a 6-3 team --- imagine it would be 9-0 if the magical "Brodie" was playing. They whine about how the Fulmer and the NCAA have totally trashed their team and they are winning on heart and guts. Well guess what, they still have better talent then most teams in the country. They should be at least 6-3 but you can't tell that to a Bama fan.

Injuries are part of the game. We've had plenty - so have other teams. Please, let's not fall into the Whaaalabama trap of starting to claim what would have been.

We had opportunities to win the ND game and we didn't do it. Clausen made a big mistake but a four point lead shouldn't have been insurmountable. If the team plays to or near its capabilities, a Clausen led team should roll into the SECCG.

Forgive the lecture but living among the Bammers is enough to make you go nuts. :banghead:

Go Vols

:eek:lol: :eek:lol: :dlol: :eek:lol: :eek:lol: Know what? I was just listening to all those crap arguments last week! Bammer told me they would have EASILY beat us with superman Brodie... when I pointed out his W-L record, they just said that was the past.

Making arguments like that are crap, it's as bad as Casey saying he could have beaten UGA with one hand tied behind his back.

Finally, /w two freshman QBs, do they think we haven't overcome a ton of adversity? Dear lord...
