Ainge's resume

What we should have done is filled the starting positions with freshmen and sophomores and geared toward next year.

It couldn't hurt any worse than 59-20. This team wasn't going to win the SEC or go to a BCS game anyways... even if Ainge happened to stay healthy.

Holy Crap I love your avatar!!!

All I can say is I'd rather have Ainge than crompton. we know he can throw the deep ball.... when he is healthy. My only real complaint about him is that he is never healthy.

Crompton can throw a better deep ball than Ainge.

Well, your feelings about Ainge are obvious even to a relative newbie to the board. All I can say is A) that every athelete want's to be better, so I am sure he is trying. B) the people who decide who palys watched all these guys in practice, and with the heat they have felt lately, you can be sure they put in who they thought would give us the best shot. C) the will take walk ons, so if you or someone you know is better, please by all means. D) Cromptom may well throw the deep ball much better, and he might throw every other pass into triple cover, Don't know cause I am not at practice.
E) As far as putting in underclassmen and planning for next year(i.e. give up on this season), how could the coaches ever earn the trust or respect of any non-star who busts their arse for UT? That would be a slap in the face to all the seniors who are plying in their final year, and every game counts to them. Once aagain I wonder how UT fans seem to think sometimes that the games and the season mean more to them than it does to the players. You ply every game like it is THE game. That is what the coaches expect from the players, and that same commitment from them is implied when you agree to play for UT, follow the coaches and dedicate your life to the program. If an underclassmen earned a spot over you, that is reality, but many players see their only play time as seniors, and knowings this, busted the humps for 4 years to get there. Would be a shame to give up on the season to work on the next one.

Some of these old threads are interesting.

Ras, you put a lot of time into that EA resume. Either you have a photographic memory, copies of all the Vols games, or you take good notes.:)

I hope Ainge goes out with a victory in the Outback and I get to see him play for somebody the Colts beat on Sundays.

But like most here, I'm looking forward to seeing what Crompton can do next season. I could care less if he throws into triple coverage if it's a deep ball. We need to lengthen the field next season.

When the pressure is on Ainge folds like a cheap chair. Blame it on whomever you want. CPF and Cut are not throwing the ball. They are calling the plays. Ainge chokes when he gets into pressure situations.

As for his arm... He throws a floater and most his balls over the middle are high because of this. Remember the opening play of the FL game two years ago. Bomb... Interception.

He is still our qb and I will root for him with all I've got, but I still have an opinion and I will respect all of yours too..

We have all seen everything you posted. Ainge is a good quarterback that hasn't been able to get any breaks. He's had ONE really good receiver while at UT, and he only came on for one season.

All I gathered from this is yet another "piss and moan about Ainge" thread from TVA.

It's hard to tell with Erik. 2005 might be the result of a poor run game, or may have been due to Erik being goofy. 2006 Swain and Smith both produced so he actually had 3 pretty good receivers to go too that year. This year our receiving corp. has been serviceable, but not great.

Incorrect. Ainge was baited into that throw. The defender played way off and Ainge never saw him. He thought he was laying out a pass to a wide open receiver. He put a lot of air under it to make it an easy catch. Unfortunately, the wrong guy caught it.

Past stats dont matter now, I think we all could agree, Ainge has not lived up to our expectations, or possibly even his potential. He was adequate at best. I found myself longing to see Casey Clausen again this year, not so much as for his skill as his DETERMINATION. Hopefully Crompton or BJ will step in and be that leader we have missed.

Agreed. :good!:
