So you're saying that Merk should've been 7/8 against UAB, because there were balls the WR's got their hands on but didn't catch it? I'm not a fan of the whole phrase "if the WR touches it, it should be caught" that's absolutely false in my opinion. This is big boy football. If you can touch it, you should catch it at this level. I didn't see any INTs that were on the QB today. Two defensive TDs was pretty nice to see as well.
You NAILED it....agreed but no qb has ever or will ever put every single throw on the numbers. i cant wrap my head around why anyone would pick joey as the target of their complaints. we had no running game, drops, dumb penalties, no run defense, horrible clock management, but JOEY is who people come here to complain about? blows my mind. joey is playing great ball
You don’t need to take anything off of a pass to the middle of the field. Both ints absolutely hit our guy in a bad place. His hands. He throws it high a little sometimes. Puts some mustard on some of those passes he needs to take a little off of.. That was the knock on him , he's a gun slinger probably have too live with it.
Not even a little bitI’m 100% a JA fan. Today he did throw some balls he shouldn’t have though. It’s easy to say the receiver touched it so he should have caught it, but that’s not always the full picture. He threw into traffic some today when he shouldn’t have. He shares those INT numbers with the receivers today.
i wasn’t talking about specifically. my badI'm not complaining about him and I hope it didn't come off that way. Those guys need to catch those balls. Found a way today, but you won't win every game in the SEC making that many mistakes. I hope CJH tells the whole team that he's proud of them for getting the W, but you can't keep making things that hard.
Kits is usually sound and has made some of those same catches but he had a bad day and missed some blocks that hurt our running game too. Wasn't dialed in for some reason. If NFL is analyzing Receivers and they say if you throw it perfect he catches it every time but if its a little high or a little low or a bit behind, even if he still gets both hands on it he misses those. If we take this guy our QB cant throw under pressure if he cant make a perfect pass.First one wasn’t his fault. 2nd one was partly on him. Sailed it high and in traffic.
I totally agree. For some reason, yesterday we did not have a TE who could catch the ball. In fact, the TEs also missed a few run blocks which cost us some big plays.one of the big concerns about Aguilar when UT picked him up was the interceptions. it was my primary concern headed into the season. but I'm here to say that (at least so far this year) all of his interceptions have been squarely the fault of the receivers bobbling the ball into the air. a pass that was on target but got muffed by the receivers.
I really wish that football didn't count those as interceptions but errors just like MLB doesn't count a run against the pitcher of the defence screws up.
so far IMO Aguilar is "pretty clean" passing.
I disagree. go look at the still shots. if you can hit your receivers in the hands and the receiver has both hands on the ball then it was a totally catchable ball. when you see the ball pop straight up in the air thats a sure sign of a gaff on the receivers part. gotta have soft hands. They weren’t perfect passes into traffic. There were balks today that shouldn’t have been thrown. If you don’t see that it’s because you choose not to.
