Great article. Breaks down each system's pros and cons very well.

PlayStation 3
Pro: Best high-def support, tantalizing exclusives
Con: Most expensive, current software library still limited

XBox 360
Pro: Superb online functions, broadest software selection, strong hardware capabilities
Con: Lacks genuinely original software titles

Wii
Pro: Original software library, classic Nintendo franchises, past and present, unique control method irresistible to non-gamers, strong multiplayer and family library
Con: Inferior graphics and sound, misses out on most big cross-platform releases, full-featured online games still a pipedream

Basically, the PS3 will have the best exclusive games, the 360 will be the best system, and the Wii will have the most appeal to the masses. I think everybody can agree.

Especially among little kids, but you are right. I'm not so sure the PS3 will have the best exclusive games, but you can argue that.

No doubt that XBox 360 has the best hardware and that it will win out with online functionality, but Gran Turismo, Final Fantasy and Metal Gear (among others) are franchises you just can't argue with.

Most of those cross-platform titles, particularly EA Sports, will be better on the 360. But Sony does have the better exclusive titles... So you just gotta decide what's more important.

Nintendo would argue the hell out of that. Zelda, All the different kinds of mario games, hell you can even put wii sports in there now.

Well yeah... I mean Zelda is probably the best franchise of all-time. But it almost seems like Nintendo is out doing its own thing while Microsoft and Sony will battle it out for #2.

Yeah forgot about Metroid but i agree with you Zelda is the best franchise out there. Ocrana of time was unreal then the one for the cube wind waker was good and this last one is right there with ocrana if you ask me.

Looks like MGS will be coming off the exclusive list a few months after 4 comes out. Its been reported in a few places that MGS4 will be ported for the 360.

If thats true then there is no reason at all to get a PS3. That is the best game for Playstation IMO and the only ps exclusive that i really like.

Uh yeah... It's possible to put MGS on the XBox. They already did it when they ported MGS2 to the XBox a year after it came out.

I could see MGS4 getting ported to the 360, like two years after it's already out. But not within a year of the PS3 launch.

Where'd you hear that? I just checked IGN and found nothing.

I've seen it several places, including the Xbox mag, a little blurb on G4. Also read an article on next-gen.biz. It is a "solid" rumor at this point I guess but Konami is concerned about $$ and if they can recoup enough development cost with the relatively low install rate of PS3s. Obviously the Xbox mag says its a done deal. The online article references waiting to see if the price drop has a major impact and if not that Konami may have to look at other options although they'd like to keep it PS exclusive.

The price drop is having a bigger impact, but not monumentally big... But I am definitley selling a lot more PS3's at work now.

My opinion is that the PS3 sales went up after the price drop because it's the best priced Blu-Ray player out, and not for it's gaming capabilities.

Exactly. The modding of the PS3 is significantly better than what you can do with the 360. I mean shoot when you can get a $15,000 server for $400, why wouldn't you.
