Kiffin was fortunate about last year. If his QB don’t get hurt, we never see Chambliss play. Kiffin would have died on that hill with the other kid cause he recruited Him.

A lot of negavols say that about 2021 with Heupel but 1) Heupel had only been here 9 months, not 5 years & 2) he wasn’t tied to Milton. Without the injury, I believe Hooker would have eventually got a shot.

Truth be told...Vol fans would be rationalizing and defending his behavior if he were our coach right now. All about perspective.

Yeah, with all the overthrown passes and poor decision making, Milton gets benched after the Ole Miss game at the LATEST.

I think his act would have worn thin eventually here. Some of his big recruits ended up complete duds.

If he's winning, Vol fans will endure most anything in the character realm. We're no different than every other top program. And like every other staff, we've made eval blunders. Even our HOF basketball coach has a list of misses. Kids these days are very good at playing the recruiting game and putting their best foot forward.

I don’t think Kiffin was ready when he took the job. Way too immature. In fact, he ran off a bunch of guys and decimated the roster. No problem if you’re in the portal era. If UT hires Gary Patterson instead, or really anyone but Dooley, we likely never have this conversation again.

I know some think Kiffin would have succeeded here. I’m not convinced. The real positive was his staff. Those guys flat out coached.

The Kiffin I see today doesn’t even seem like the same guy

Tennessee fans grade football coaches on a lot tougher scale than basketball coaches. With no trophies, but a big x following, Kiffin wouldn’t stand the test of time with Volnation.

Heupel has 2 top 8 finishes in his first 5 years & some are complaining. Heupel gets blown out at OSU by the eventual national champion & some complain. Barnes does basically the same & everyone is extremely satisfied.

Right!!

Coach Majors had a national championship and we fired him.
Coach Fulmer also had one and we fired him.
Kiffin has yet to win one as a head coach. Might at LSU but Cajuns have a short leash.
