Afraid of Crompton?

I think Crompton will do very well for us in 2008. Ainge, great leader or not, has earned his stripes and deserves to be the man right now. It's not his fault that the coaches' stupid playcalling got him injured vs Notre dame and it's not his fault that the D can't tackle. Dude has been a very good QB in Knoxville, has put up steady numbers and play and withstood a lot of BS over 4 years. i have nothing but the utmost respect for the dude.

Here is my .02 for the board. You have heard from me before, and there are several reasons that I think this way. One of the reasons is what I hear from people in the know.

Ainge is not and has never really been a leader on this football team. He is easily rattled to this day, and typically doesn't respond well to pressure. Crompton, on the other hand, thinks that he can run through a brick wall.

Granted, that doesn't mean that he is a good QB, but after watching Tebow, it is imperative that your QB display toughness and leadership. Furthermore, if Crompton were given consistent coaching with the first team, and had an actual game plan (non existent in the Arky game.) I think once he has his opportunity he will do well with this football team.

Lex, are you seriously suggesting that we should be playing Crompton right now? The only reason I could see that happening is because we're just absolutely giving up on the season and getting him as much experience as possible for next year.

Now I don't mean to be down on the kid because I'm sure he's eventually going to be decent. But Crompton isn't there yet. I don't care if he thinks that he can run through a brick wall, I want him to be able to read defenses and not throw INT's against the second string defenses of the world.

I just don't think that JC is there yet and that's just my opinion.

I got jumped all over in another thread earlier this year b/c I came out and said Crompton didn't have what it takes to play QB at the level we want. People want to believe the "Heath" hype he got when he was recruited, and the bottom line is, he just isn't very good, and never will be.

If had the ability to do what people want him to do, he'd be in the game.

I've tried to tell everyone who will listen, BJ Coleman is our next permanent starting QB.
