Yeah, I get as worked up as the next guy, probably more. There was a time when I would be mad for the whole week over a Vols loss. I've let a lot of it go in recent years.

We are all worrying, speculating, fighting, and in general acting like impatient children over this coaching deal. Yes, I'm as guilty as anyone here.

I'll tell you how important it is in the grand scheme of your life. It's not. Not one iota.

I happened to be in the gift shop of a large local hospital earlier today. A man came in with his teenage daughter. He asked the lady if the gift shop had a small cross. "They are turning off my Mother's life support today. I want a small cross to put by her bedside." My Dad died 17 years ago today, so his words had a profound effect on me.

Who the new HC at UT is, hasn't seemed that important to me today. Think about it.

You are correct. Football isn't life. There are much more important things out there. God says, "Thou shall have no other idols before me." Sometimes we can all be guilty of treating UT sports and other sports as idols.

UT football and sports do give people a common bond. Sometimes that bond helps us get past or forget about difficult situations. We just have to learn to keep it in perspective. There is nothing wrong with being passionate about something you love. But, it should never be taken as serious as life itself!!!

Well stated, and so very true.

Stated well. I think we call get caught up in it.

Since Fulmer was fired, I have basically lived on Volnation. Off and on from the time I get home from work until bed time. Just hoping to see something "worthwhile" in the coaching search.

As you say, it really means nothing. But we get all caught up in it.

I lost my mom last year and dad 20 years ago and honestly I'd feel somewhat guilty if I didn't follow the Vols as much as they did, especially my dad. He would be totally peeved at me for not keeping up with the Vols.

no one's panicking we're discussing it on the Vol board. That's what it is here for

Very well said. I would add that I enjoy VN because it takes my mind away from training someone to take my job. I think sports and talking about our team is a great escape.

very true. We are facing an economic crisis, war and violence all over the world, disease, etc. I love UT football more than anything else, but when it is all put into perspective it really doesn't have much bearing on the outcomes of our lives.

I'm sure when its all said and done their will still be the few that aren't happy with the hire and will disown the team. I for one will take who we get and hope for the best and continue to follow Tennessee Football!
