AD Danny White on twitter

This is what the NFL and college sports are moving toward. In Nashville, Oracle is building a huge complex on the East Bank that will include affordable housing and much more. Government, other businesses are part of it including the new Titans stadium and a new Tn Performing Arts Center. Some major road changes are planned over the next few years. Knoxville has also experienced growth and that isn't projected to change. The entertainment district is 12 months a year, not just dependent on college sports.

Well, unfortunately for you, we have other sports with deserving athletes.
They are nearly 4 million dollars in the red this past year and you think they deserve more ? They are leeching off football badly enough without flushing more NIL down the drain. It’s hard enough to win football games now we are trying to do so while running a charity. I’d trade the entirety of their program for one more football victory.

I think their NIL has nothing to do with the AD Budget.
I think football is leeching off of womens' sports in the sense that without those scholarships, you don't have your 105 man roster or whatever it is now.
I think you prob don't bring that same energy to Baseball.

We're running a college athletics department. Don't like Women's Bball? Don't watch. But they'd be less in the red if you bought tickets.

Not our money, not our problem.

Their NIL IS connected to our sports budget, per the agreement that the university is allegedly going to abide by we have approximately $20 million worth of revenue sharing NIL for the entire athletics department. I don’t care if there’s a women’s team or not, my issue is not that we have a girls team. My issue is that we are spending finite NIL resources on something that the majority of the fanbase does not care about. Which is disadvantaging the programs that most Tennesseans actually care about.
