Agree. Another was Martin Sheen as General Robert E. Lee in Gettysburg. Every bit of his dialog grated on my nerves. The words were fine, the accent was atrocious. His "southern" accent in The Devil's Advocate was quite comical too! Not as bad as Nick Cage's in Con Air, but pretty terrible!
Robert Duvall's portrayal of Robert E. Lee in Gods and Generals was better, but the dialogue in that movie was absolutely laughable! Nobody just "talked" in that movie! Every single scene was one long poetic, pontificating soliloquy after another, LOL! Every conversation came across like everyone's trade was professional orator!Agree. EDIT: oh, and Sam Elliot's Buford dialog was overwrought. Like he was saying everything with an eye to the history books written.
Agreed. They were saying their lines for posterity. I really thought Stephen Lang did the best job of the cast. What you do think?Robert Duvall's portrayal of Robert E.
